01/79 FJ40 For Sale in Sonoita. $7K
De-smogged 2F runs great.
- OEM Non-USA carb
- 32X9.50 SSRs like new on new OEM steel wheels with hub caps
- New OEM brake master cylinder
- New rear wheel cylinders
- SOR bikini top
- S/S battery tray with Die Hard Group 34 Platinum
- New thermostat and upper t-stat housing
- Newer radiator
- Idler pulley to remove smog pump, and keep P/S pump happy, goes with it (not installed)
A pal of mine bought it in Ajo (probably it's original home) about 13 years ago, he was so enamored with my '76 that he needed one.
He then took the rig to NC for about a two years, then back to Ajo, then to OK for a few years. He moved to Portland and the rig is de-smogged so it is a no-go up there. So I bought it in December of 2011. I haven't really done much with it except slowly upgrade stuff. My wife putts around in it but the other LCs get most of the use.

I was going to build a retro trail rig out of it. 32s, OME, ARB in back...however our 09/78 FJ40 has taken over that role: 4.10s, old style tub, etc...

Doors, hardtop? Spare tire carrier? Beige 464? Pic of rear, engine bay?
No doors or hardtop, my pal got rid of them before I got it. As they didn't get much use in Ajo he had them stored for a while then gave them away.
No spare tire carrier. I have a 4+ Plus that can go with it at a solid MUD discount.
Not beige 464, it was white but my buddy painted the exterior tan and did the interior with bed liner before I got it.

The dash was cut for speakers at some point.
The diamond plate was added by my buddy. I haven't pulled them but the 1/4s were solid before he installed it...that said I imagine the normal spots are effected.
If you guys think this should be moved to the classifieds please let me know. I was hoping someone local would want the rig.
