land of enchantment, at least for now
I bought a new ARB fridge from IPOR a short while ago--great price with free shipping at the time. I haven't taken it anywhere, but checking it out at home, the interior light doesn't work. ARB sent a new bulb, still no workie.

They have offered to pick it up and repair or replace or comp me a fridge bag to live without the light. What would you do? I can live without a light, but worry it might be a harbinger of things to come for this unit.

I'd ask for the comp'ed fridge bag and for it to be fixed !!!!! And, if they wouldn't, I'd ask for a full refund and go buy from another manufacturer. My $.02.

If that's not happening, I'd go for a full replacement --the problem with that is you would likely get one that was returned and fixed/reconditioned.

bag (cover right?) all the way if this light does nothing else but light it up.
You can likely buy a little LED with a position switch and battery for $10 to stick to the lid. Or use a flashlight.

I'd take the swap offer and buy a cover if you want/need one.

I would get the light fixed ... and get the bag... This is ARB we are talking about right... Arnold Ron Brown
At night when you want something to eat and cant see (dark) the light is real important.. Unless you carry one of those LED light on your forehead.

And get the hinge kit to fix the door

I use a WAECO CF 110

Have it fixed. Kludging a fix on a new fridge is the wrong way to start a relationship with a piece of equipment that is designed to last many years.
That light is worth having when you have to dig into it to find a beer and you get a handfull of potato salad instead.

Get the light fixed with either a new one or having this one fixed. could be a loose wire from it got shipped. We have had ours for about a year and its been great.

I've got a 45L Engel Fridge (same as the ARB Fridge) and it doesn't turn on anymore. The light comes on when I turn the dial from off to 1-5, however I do not hear or feel the compressor turn on. I do hear a high pitch buzzing noise. I've tried on 12v as well as 110v.

I verified that the fuse is good.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Sounds like you need to call Engel. Something to do with the Compressor.

It was the compressor. I took the sheet metal cover off the back end that encloses the compressor and the electronics. After vacuuming the dust and dog hair, I took a block of wood and a hammer and gave the compressor a swift kick. It fired right up.

After reading a few things online about the proper care of the Engel fridge/freezer, it states that you should turn it on for a few minutes at least 1x per month to ensure everything is lubricated and moves freely. I had the fridge sitting for over a month and I guess it started to lock up inside.

Anyways, all is good :bounce::cheers:

That's odd because my Engel sits for 6 months at a time in the winter and doesn't run between SnT(Nov) and Moab(May).

Never had an issue but will run it monthly from now on.

Never had a light in mine either, and never knew I needed one, but now I want one!

For the original poster...I would want a new and perfectly working machine. It's an expensive piece of kit and you paid for all of the features. The transit bag is totally unnecessary.

same here...I've had mine off for quite some time now...

and the larger (2nd) one that I have sits, sometimes for a year at a time between uses.

I guess I need to turn them on from time to time now...
