ARB bumper install

On the 03+ at least, it bolts directly to the interior of the bumper. There's no cradle or anything that it mounts to first before putting the bumper on to it. The entire package is installed together, making the whole thing ungodly heavy. I suggest finding a buddy or a really slick floor jack set up to put it back on.

Thanks for this! So the deinstall/reinstall process for me would be to take off the outer bumper (The pre 03 had a cradle that attaches to the frame and then the actual bumper bolts to that), install the winch on the inside of the outer bumper then reinstall as a single unit.

Cool! Straightforward? Any tricks?

The holes on my winch control box didn't line up well, and I had to create a quick fix for it. I've been meaning to go back to redo it , but haven't as of yet. I'll try and post a pic up today so you can get an idea.

Only trick is go hit that thing up with some PB blaster and go slow, you don't want to strip any of those bolts, and when you put them back in, make sure to clean out the holes a bit and use some threadlocker when you put them back in.

THANK you for your time! That is the bumper I have. I purchased it new out of box, but still wrapped in plastic from a fella for $500 and the box of hardware for mounting it, is entirely wrong and not even for this bumper. Thus I need all of it. ARB told me that it is a separate part number for the hardware kit but they "can't" really just sell it to me without going through a supplier and the supplier's can't get them without buying the whole bumper again for $1200. They might special order the hardware kit for almost $700 and it will take an unknown amount of time but likely months.

So- I have a brand new 100 series Winch bar for 98-10/2002 with the lights, but thats all I have. However I have an installation kit with all hardware for a Land Rover Discovery if anyone needs it. Someone out there has a Land Rover Discovery bumper with a Land Cruiser 100 series hardware kit. Figures.

I wish I could see all of the parts that normally come with the bumper to see if its possible to make them or have them made. Its surprising that I can't find a good schematic/parts list for this.

Thanks for your interest in helping. Much appreciated.
Hi,
I’m looking for the hardware for a Discovery if you still have it, let me know what you’d take for it.
Thanks

Does anyone know on a pre 2003 ARB bull bar, can you install a winch without removing the bumper? I just purchased a Smittybilt X20 10k synthetic line and factor 55 flat link that I’d like to install ASAP. I will likely need to wait till I have my garage back from MN winter to do the install if I need to remove the bumper but if I could get the winch on without removing the bumper I’d have a winch for the rest of winter which would be great given what I was driving through this weekend... any advice or lessons learned would be much appreciated!

In the process of installing an X20 with an ARB deluxe 03+ bumper. Did you have any problem clocking the winch for accessing the control handle through the top hole in the bumper? Something I think I'm missing the clock position I need for the control handle to be in the perfect position to reach it through the hole in the bumper top.

I have the 2003+ ARB bullbar and I installed the winch after the bumper was already fully installed on the truck. I had to clock both the handle/clutch side as well as the motor side to make things work. I remember clocking it was pretty straight forward!

I just got it home. I will just need to open the hood to access the handle/clutch controls when I need to use the winch. I'll post some pics tonight.

Pictures of the grill and mount. The grill has been slightly set inward at the bottom. This gives room for it to clear the bar light tabs as shown in the next picture.

Now it clears the light tabs. It doesn't need a lot of room.

Drill an additional hole to shift the grill mounting pitch.

Added a shim under the front mounting bolt location to shift the grill inward.

The winch is mounted feet facing out the front.

Shifted the control box to the side. I might move this up behind the grill after I see how well it works in this location.

The next step will be to wind up the synthetic cable.

I like this a lot! My tabs are long gone at this point, but hopefully this will help others. I also like the hidden mount of the solenoid, it will stay out of elements a little better.

clock the handle end 90 degrees to the 9 o'clock position to have the selector facing toward the top of the bumper. I recently did this on the smitty x20 I just bought for my ARB after I moved the warn I previously ran to another project.

Thanks. It's in easy reach to do that now.

To finish up the ARB 03+ wiring for an LX470. I put together a simple chart. Can someone verify this is accurate? I'm not sure about the green wire on the ARB turn signals. For the FOG lights, I'm just guessing.

Is the transformer that came with the ARB kit needed to run the LED fog lights?

Just spliced them into the Toyota style connectors that I bought from Own Expedition. So they are now plug and play if I ever need to remove the front bumper.

I forgot the Lexus IS slightly different than the Cruiser. Iirc you turn signals and fog lights are separate and were in your bumper. On the TLC the turn signal is in the fender to the left of headlights and I have to tap into the lead. So that’s what I was referring to when I said how did you “tap into” the wire.

Awesome write-up, not sure why it isn't in the FAQ section. I am just about to do the install, with a gently used Combo-bar (pre-2002). The previous owner had a winch, but I do not plan on installing one anytime soon. I don't have the winch cover, does anyone know if you can order it separately, or if someone has one laying around they don't want?

Question for the group. I’m installing an ARB Deluxe Bull Bar on my 2003 100 Series and am a little stuck on how it mounts to the winch assembly. Is the bumper supposed to rest on top of the metal lip shown in the attached? Also, I presume the mount points (where I have already preset the M14 bolts) attaches where the last pic shows three openings? The instructions are worthless from the packaging.
