Also, does Kansas use salt or sand for roads? Trying to determine how bad rust may be.

Ditto that. I'm in Lenexa as well (about 15 miles from Bonner Springs). Just sold a hilux and bought my first FJ80. Anyway lots of salt used in the winters here in the KC area so it all depends on how well someone kept it clean. Good luck,
