I really need some drawers for my 200. Have been looking around and stumbled upon these from Frontrunner: http://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/toyota-l-cruiser-200-storage-system.html

They look pretty good, and the docs say the install time is just 30 minutes if installed with the rear seats in place, or just slightly longer if the rear seats have to be removed.

I think they would be a good choice, but fear I am overlooking something.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Those don't seem to extend very far into the vehicle.
For that price, you could get the ARB (Outback Solutions) drawers, which are far deeper (41" deep), carpeted both inside and on top...and offer various options like fridge slide-outs, etc. They also create a sleeping surface with the second row seats folded down.

Have a look:
Slee - SUV Storage Drawer System Details

Or the full brochure at: Storage Solutions

Markuson, those look good. Any idea what configuration works best for creating a sleeping surface with the second row seats folded? Maybe two roller drawers (L and R)?

The regular height drawers are the same height over-all with or without the roller top. In may 100, one side rad the roller top, and the other side had just the drawer, and they line up the same. These drawers aren't in my 200 yet, but will probably be my next mod after suspension install.

Then you get a decent blow-up mattress that's not overly thick, and you've got a great sleep surface. In my 100, I had one that fit the entire surface almost exactly...so they aren't hard to find.

Very cool; thank you. Was your drawer configuration similar to the one pictured below (source: sleeoffroad.com)? Curious about the "side trim" present in some of the pictures. It looks great, but wondering whether that extra space on each side gets forfeited or remains usable.

Yes. That's what I had.

Side trim set is awesome. It has an access piece on each side so that you can store items in that space by simply removing a cutout that is also carpeted. They have upgraded the handles to what you see above. Mine were slightly different, but the ones they have now are better.

Are the plastic trim pieces on the sides and at the rear of the hatch opening rendered non-removable with the drawer system installed? Curious how difficult it will be to remove these to run wires and cables once the drawer system is installed?

Not sure what you mean by "plastic trim." If you mean the fit kit...it's not plastic. Are you referring to the fit kit that fills in the sides? If so, then you should be OK.

In my system, you could access the inside of the side trim space (if thats what you mean) by folding second row seats down/forward. From there you had access to the inside of the side trim space. So...you could reach into the side space from there, then grab anything you were feeding through via the access panels on top/middle of the trim. I used these spaces for various chargers and other wiring on my 100. You might want to call Slee Offroad to ask if this is still how they are constructed. I'd be surprised if it's different, as it was very handy to have access at that point.

Maybe not referring to the same thing. What I'm referring too are the trim pieces on the land cruiser; what you would typically remove (and reinstall) to hide wiring, fuse box for rear cargo, etc.... It looks like the drawer system over laps it and perhaps may not be able to remove these panels without removing the drawer frame.

Ohhh... I see what you're saying. Right. The plastic panel siding would be tough to get behind, although you CAN still get into the various storage spots in back, such as the jack stow.

On the other hand, you could just tack some conduit up under the fit kit, and retain easy access to custom-added wires.

But ya. If you need ready access to internals, you'd need to remove the fit kit...and I can't remember whether you can remove the fit kit without removing the main drawer unit. Again... Slee would know. Just buy your drawers from them... ;)

Thanks...just thinking down the road. Would likely try to plan anything that require removal of those panels/trim pieces before installing a drawer system.

I've seen that some people run those drawers without the side trim, so I'm pretty sure you can remove it without disassembling the rest... Not sure.

I have this one, and the one that takes the plastic containers. The problem I have with this particular one is that it restricts you what to pack. I bought the other one with 6 plastic containers and I can pack as it suites me. The only problem I have, the plastic containers when packed exand a little, that causes the draw to catch the top X member of the frame. This causes the draw not to open fully. I will be looking for alrernative containers....

Otherwise it is really good products....

While I appreciate all the comments about the ARB drawers available from Slee, I'm already very familiar with those.

I take it no one has any experience with the drawers I'm interested in from Frontrunner?

Wow. Suddenly, $1600 doesn't seem so bad for the ARB OutBack Solutions drawers...

Looky the price on these TrekBoxx Units...

In fairness though, the mesh dividers/shields from ARB are way up there too...especially if you add three pieces at around $650 a pop...

You home fabricators do well when you build your own. Still planning on set from ARB though, as me skills are nowhere near enough to make a go of it...

Did you have to do any drilling through the floor to install those Front Runners?

No.Mounting is done to existing bolts which were used to mount the third row seats and existing rear tie-down points - no drilling. The drawers can be removed and the third row seats re-installed with no modification to the truck in any way.

HTH

The reason I ask is because I had ARB drawers on my 4Runner and I had to drill holes through the floor to mount them. Does anyone know if you need to drill the floor on the 200 to mount of ARB drawers?

How about noise on rough offroad trails? Wondering if, since it is steel, if it has creaks and rattles.

Are they at the same height as the middle row when that row is folded? In other words, could you put a platform (plywood or whatever) across the top of the drawers and across the folded (not rolled) 2nd row seats to create a flat space; one that you could sleep on?

Did those cute little flower lights come with the drawers or did you add those? ;-)
