Anyone got recs for an all weather 1 person tent?

I've been using the Sierra Designs Sirus 2 for three or four year now. I am completely satisfied with the construction and ease of use. It isn't really a four season tent so consider this a testimonial for Sierra Designs in general.

I have to agree with the others, unless you are really pressed for space get at least a 2 man tent. This gives you enough room for your sleeping bag plus a day pack or duffle bag. It also makes getting dressed a lot easier.

Edit: In cold weather you want the smallest tent that will accommodate you, less volume to lose heat to. But I'd still go at least two person and a heavier sleeping bag if your car camping.

and what if you're somewhere without trees?
One of my buddies and I discussed this in camp one time.

We both drive open top FJ40's with roll cages, all we would need is one tree. Or another truck.

I use the msr hubba hubba, tight for 2 people, but light.

I've been using a sirius extreme http://www.exped.com/exped/web/exped_homepage.nsf/b43HomePageE?openframeset with fairly good success. Everything all packed up is about the size of a rugby ball. One person can set this up fairly quick, even in the dark. I've mainly used mine up in the mountains and out on the beach. A ground sheet/tarp is advised.

and a quick review from trailspace

Its kinda pricey. I got lucky and bought mine used for $50 from a neighbor that got too old to wander into the wilderness by himself. Mine stays with my ruck strapped to my fj40.

My plan is to wonder off into the wilderness when I get to old.

Loud,
I'll sell you my Bibler Eldorado. Its a custom model; I ordered it with two doors. I also have the vestibule and footprint for it. Green. Before BD bought them.

Trust Dan, you want a Bibler. I love mine. The real deal and the last tent you will probably ever need to buy. A buddy and I backpacked into the Arc Dome wilderness this October. He had a lesser model tent that ripped in the wind while he was putting it up. It was also the first time he had ever used it, so you can't say he wore it out.

If you really need an all season tent (4 season), then from SD, see if they still make the Tiros2. The tent will carry your weight once properly rigged- handles serious snowloads. Good size and lightweight- double walled tent. If you want 4 season single wall, look to the Bibler tents, now owned by Black Diamond.

Better yet, finance the new Autohome AirTop.

I own the Tiros, Bibler, and a Garuda pyramid tent. All 4 season for different applications.
Oh, the bibler bivy sack also works great. I have also spent a few weeks with jungle hammocks in the tropics... Got you off the ground away from hungry mammals...

Kifaru Paratipi with the vestibule. awesome single person tent with a woodstove to stay warm!
