I'd like to see if anyone in the Victoria area has a real or homemade tool I can borrow to remove and replace the hub nut on a full floater rear axle on a 60. If you have one and can lend it to me, much appreciated.

Specifically it is the Toyota SST 09509-25011 or OTC 6064. It looks a bit like a socket but with three prongs sticking out that fit into holes in the hub nut or collar.

The truck isn't registered yet so I can't move it to a shop.

Regards,

Chris

I've only got a socket for my 45 FF axle. Could you make a tool to do the job out of pipe... Or use a punch?

Located!

Cam dropped off two GM hub socket tools. One worked as is last night to remove the hub collar 'nut''. I'll turn one into the proper tool to put everything back together.

i wanted a tool instead of a punch to get the right bearing preload on assembly.

Thanks,

Chris

Glad it worked out there Chris, I just hope you can bring your 60 on the new years run!

That truck would look good in a few feet of snow/:popcorn:

Yeah dude, anything I can do to assist with getting your truck ready for the New Years run? You know, hold the flashlight... get you coffee... etc :flipoff2:

thanks for the positive waves, but I doubt it will happen quickly. the rear left hub is apart, and while that should go together quickly, odds of getting the calipers Ken gave me rebuilt and on, in any short order, are slim. I think they'll work, but of the three he gave me, two are the same side, one is the other side. the 'other' is so rusty i have chipped away most of the caliper cleaning it up. i can't tell if they'll work as one piston on each caliper is seized, and i'm still working them apart.

so january 15th, if i'm lucky!

Chris
