Finally things have settled a little and I've started seriously thinking about Rubithon 09. I have been on the Rubicon but not with the TLCA brethren and I'd love to go.

I'm making a list of PM's, mods, and upgrades I need before I could make it, but I wanted to put the word out to anyone around if they're planning on going for a couple of reasons...

- be fun to get together and make plans to go with somebody
- good to caravan up
- motivate me to do what it will take to get me and the rig there

Here's the link to get the info and form if anyone's interested: Rubithon: the official TLCA event

I'm going...

in spirit only. :frown:

Youre taking the 80 right.
How tall are your lifts and tires now?

Yup, the '80, it's the only thing I have any money left for!

I've got 285's right now, trying to upgrade to 295's, on 850J/864 OME's, gives me about 4" all loaded up.

I piloted a 100 series on 285's with no lift last time I went, I'm expecting some carnage but not too bad I hope.

One of the wishlist items is t-case protection, front and rear bumpers and sliders are taken care of.

Same here, i wish I can attend. Who the hell plans a wedding during Rubithon

Dan, I am planning on going. Est. departure is Tuesday, June 16th for Wednesday's Wagon run. Last I spoke to Steve 619toy, he was also planning on going again this year. As far as T-case protection goes; as long as you are taking the high line you shouldn't have any issues (you prob know that from driving the 100). If you do get some protection, grab an IronPig skid. they make the best ones IMO.

i'm planning on going!!! hopefully by then i'll have a rear bumper and a front locker.

Excellent Sam, I've looked and I/P is my 1st choice for a TC plate, although it's not on the "A" list, it's a 'want' right now. A winch for example is on the A-list. I'd like to keep in touch, I plan on the Wagon run also which means arrival on Tue night at Loon Lake, right? Are you camping that close or some other arrangements?

Ruf, are you also planning the wagon run?

Can't wait for this one to come together!

the wagon run sounds fun. i've never ran the rubicon so this'll be my first event. hopefully not too much carnage.

Dan, T/C would be on my A list well before a winch given that you are going to be wheeling with a group where most if not all rigs will have winchings (you will also be placed in the middle of the group), so wouldn't rush to buy a winch. I ran it 3 times before I added a winch.

Leaving early Tuesday, I try to get to the icehouse area by 3pm do all my market shopping, top off the truck with fuel and aim to be at the trail head where I camp out for the night ready to head out in the AM, god willing.

We'll talk more as mid June approaches and and the event becomes more tangible.

Ruf, you're going to love it.

I really would like to go this year but I've decided to save all my pennies for a new house. Gotta strike while the irons hot, so to speak:D

Just sent in my Reg. Wed. Wagon Run. Now to work on getting the truck ready.

Dan and Ruf, you boys bail on the trip? I didn't notice ur names on the reg. sheet for the Wagon Run

I am dragging the FJ40 up. Still haven't done any work on the 80. Too many projects, too little time and $.

This is my 1st trip to the Rubicon though. I am looking forward to it.

Would love to go since I have not been up there since '07 in my Tacoma. My 80 will not be ready in time and my second child is due in Sept so there are a lot of things I need to do around the house.

Green, if you're heading up on Tuesday, let me know and we can meet in Bakersfield. Vista same goes for you

PK I may take you up on that. I gotta check my schedule though. I am in Vegas until 10 June. I don't remember when my leave actually starts though.

I'm very disappointed <again> that I won't be able to make it this year, I held out hope, but my 14 year old is graduating from middle school on that thursday, and word is that I wouldn't be a good dad if I blew that off, so I'm making plans for next year.

I was SOOO looking forward to it, too.

Bummed in Torrance (Dan).

well unfortunately i will not be making it to this event. maybe next year.
