Not my first Newfie, and can't tell you the number of times I've heard "gee, did you know your dog looks like a bear?" Living in Tahoe just adds to the fun!
I was on a trail walk in the mountains with my dog and in a valley ahead and below, I saw a woman with what looked like a small bear walking behind her. Long story short, she told me it was a Bouvier des Flandres. More commonly known as a belgium cattle dog, he was impressive to say the least.

Our neighbor has a very large and portly black mix with a short tail. I've seen him in the woods and had to closely check if he was a bear since we have them in the area.
