Test drove a rubicon unlimited yesterday. No where near as comfortable as my cruiser. So I think I'm going to pull my doors instead of dropping 20k.

Anyone have pics of an open air rig? Thanks-JJ

Wyoming; dam near anything is legal here anyway.

I drove a plymouth trailduster without floorboards for three years.

If your question was if it's a trail rig- no; daily driver.

How do you find out whether or not it's legal in your state? I tried searching the state auto site but had no luck. I'll keep my doors off if it's legal until I fix it all properly.

I never even questioned legality. I just assume it's legal. Jeeps do it right?

Besides; I'll get a warning first.

Hadn't thought about mirrors- might have to make some that fit on the door hinge.

Hell ya! ran with the front doors off for months here in Oregon. Right here in the big city. Desertlake was doing it for awhile then he got high toned and fixed his doors. Mirrors? Like you said, it's Wyoming. what you worried abou? Merging into the Pronghorn lane? Don't you call that going to the grocery store? We do.

Not fixed yet - and not on the street yet. Though I might consider it since I still don't have rubber for my back doors. My bigger problem is no windshield no hood and lots of oil leaks - tough on the complexion.

Legal or no, I'd definitely want a shoulder harness.

I also wouldn't recommend it without a cage. I've noticed how much weaker the B pillar is without the doors shut. On my parts rig a weld has failed and I'm pretty sure I could rip it out by hand, but with the doors shut it doesn't move much.

Good to know. Thanks.

This should be the last year for this roof anyway. I've about hashed out a two piece removable design for the donor; just need time and materials.

Maybe I'll tap it and fill it with expansion foam for now.

Is there a good/quick way to yard the doors off?

It's pretty nice wheelin with out the doors!:D But a little Chilly in the winter. But nice in the summer:grinpimp:.

That's a PIG! So uber cool Short Bus. WOW, bet that things crawls real good. If you look real close Desert dude, looks like the roll cage has a member tucked behind the A pillar. Oh, and back to Trollhole,, I think he is planning something similiar over in the Expedition section.

What a good time!

I left the rears and pulled the front. Got my first thumbs up right away (first drive). The wind wasn't bad even at 65 with the rear window down.

LOVE IT.

Pics when I can. Thanks for the input!-JJ

Damn, that looks like my backyard! Nice pic/rig Short Bus. Love it, it's still an inspiration to my own roof-chop thread...

Fair Warning:

Mud can come in easier; particularly if you have a four year old navigator in the back seat- took a mouthfull:D

Thous are the moments he will always remember and always bring up at the wrong time!:grinpimp: "Daddy do you remember splashing in the puddles and we got all dirty" and then there's "Daddy do you remember when that lady from your high school that came and sat on your lap at the mall when we were shopping for a present for mommy"

It's kinda like that Mastercard commercials
