Greetings All,

I picked this '77 up a little while ago at a scrapyard which was located W of Seattle.

Motor and tranny were gone, but it was obvious to me that someone had done a lot of work to the ol' gal. I'm guessing that at some point a MUD member did a resto on her, as there were Corbeau seats with the special brackets, early doors and early emblems, receipts in the back from SOR and other cruiser parts places, and some newish looking rubber, not to mention a nice paint job and a sunroof. Unfortunately, rust is consuming the lower body from the inside-out.

Yesterday I found a Texas license plate while I was rummaging around in the back. Based on the type of rust, coastal Texas or some such climate would make sense as an area of origin.

Attached is a pic of the plate. Anyone remember this plate or know anyone who might? I'm curious as to what had been done to this pig, and what the rear gearing may be.

Thanks y'all!

a 77 with 74 and earlier doors....

no is 77- the front upper leading corners of the front window frames are not rounded as they would be from late 76 on....

send me your list!

@LAMBCRUSHER the plate on the DS door frame says '77, but I have not checked inside the engine bay. And yes, definitely has earlier doors on it.

@npulver I am in the process of parting it; you can check my post in the classifieds section. Frame is pretty rotten, as are other metal parts. Don't know if Texas uses much salt on the roads, but this lil' piggie has definitely seen some oxidizers......

the plate may say 77, but those Apillars are saying even more...it isn't just the doors that are earlier than late 76...it's the body was a whole. those Apillars would have been rounded at the front tops...not that it matters any,,,just sayin...Other than the wing window seals being practically unobtainium, they function really well...

Very cool! @LAMBCRUSHER

I am certainly not anything close to an expert, so I appreciate the knowledge. I'll do a little more exploring.

So......you're saying that someone did a restoration and then put a diff plate on it eh?

at least rebadged it...

But why would you re-badge as a later year?

Usually you hear about re-badging as earlier to get around emissions...
well a later pig rebranded as an earlier pig would leave an untagged pig, and a later dated vin plate...add the two remainders together, and...
