sup fellas,

i'm thinking about making a few sliders to get some cash rounded up to work on the cruiser... my grad school stipend clears rent, food, and beer; i love cruisers, but i don't think i'm goin to stop needin any of those three things any time soon.

so basically, does anybody in the middle tennessee area want some custom built sliders for their cruiser(s)?
i am confident that i can put together an appealing setup for 40s, 45s, 55s, and 60s, a set for 80s or 100s would take a bit of head scratching but i'm sure it could be done as well...

the reason i'm posting up here is that i would need a cruiser or two to make a template for these sliders. if you would let me hang on to your cruiser for a weekend (in my garage), i would sell you the sliders as cheap as i could let them go, in appreciation.

i have no idea if this would appeal to anybody here, but respond here or shoot me an email and we can talk about it

i would also be open to making rear quarter protection/armor...if that would be more to y'all's liking

I'd be in for some bolt-on sliders for my 60
And you could borrow her for the weekend
I have always liked SROR's

well, if you do find em, or just have an idea of what you want, i can work with that, no problem.

i've got a few basic ideas...i mean, there's only so much you can do with sliders on a stockish vehicle without getting ridiculous.

yeah, the solid rock sliders are a good example of a beefy and simple setup that has been done before (by many vendors). tried and true...

that style is pretty much exactly what i had in mind for the 60 sliders.

i'd like to be able to offer people a choice between bolt-on and weld-on stuff, that way i could sell them in partial/kit form as well.

i'll be in touch with you about this in the next couple weeks

what kinda price range would you think 80s would run?

these are kind of a wild card for me as i haven't really looked extensively at an 80s frame rails and rockers... i also know that there would have to be different mounting provisions based on what year 80 you had b/c of catalytic converter placement, among other things.

i am honestly hesitant to put down an actual price for stuff like this without having made the first production set or even prototype...particularly with bolt-on stuff. i would rather be able to wait a bit longer and give a good estimate than either really overshoot or undershoot the cost, if that makes sense.

i see you're in nashville...so if you wanted to meet up with me at some point and hang out for a day or two, you could get yourself in on some pretty cheap sliders for acting as a guinea pig

if you're interested in this, let me know and i'll get in touch with you after i move and get settled in at my new place

I've been looking for some sliders for my 40. I have a 1980, which means I have to move the exhaust inside the frame rails before sliders can be bolted on. I'd be up for a set. I like the simple round tubes like sold on TPI's site, but favor the flat sliders that are cut with a 45 degree angle on the ends. I'd also like to bolt them on so I can remove easily if needed.

Hope to hear from you.

Thanks!

cool cool... should be able to make whatever you want. there should be no trouble in making some bolt-on sliders for your application.

like i said earlier, i'm moving at the end of the month so it'll be a while before i get all settled in and ready to start fabbing in the new (smaller :frown: ) garage.

i'll definitely be in touch,

Sounds great. I just got back from GSMTR and have a new baby, so I think the timing will work out great. I'll wait to hear from you. Thanks!

malphrus, thats works. I'm in no hurry, I have some cheap manik steps on now for the kids, and need to finish my trailer project before i go back to the budget committee(wife)

i can do that for you if you want it...but i would prefer to make a beefier slider, ha ha.
it can definitely still have that angled outer bar on it, i just think that the mounts and main bar could be done a bit differently (ie better)
