As the subject states, I'm wanting to get a good cover for my 45LV for the summer here in Phoenix when it doesn't get driven much. I've liked the CoverKing covers I've used on other vehicles in the past, but want to avoid paying $$$ for a custom sized one. Anybody ever figure out if any other standard size covers work? Like for a Chevy Suburban or other large wagon? Thought I'd check to see if someone else had figured this out already before I start studying SUV wagon sizes for similarities to the LV. Thanks all!

I've used the Jeep JK 4 door ones on an FJ40 with oversized tire on aftermarket rack and there seems like there might just be enough room to stretch for an LV, but if they list the specs anywhere online that's where I'd start. I use the 2 door Jeep JK for a regular 40 and early bronco and they work good.

I posted up about one a while back. Can’t recall where. The first one suffered a slow death in the mild summer by the beach so I wouldn’t recommend it for outside but I will figure out the dimensions for you. It’s a pretty good fit.

Sorry if you already saw this and I’m wasting your time.

had not seen that, thanks! Sounds like it didn't really hold up too well in the sun, but the size was appropriate so thats good to know. Phoenix sun is pretty crazy, I try to store mine indoors when I can but sometimes I do have to go put it off to the side of the garage for a few weeks at a time...

Definitely won’t survive AZ sun. I did buy another one and had the old one on top of the new one and that worked great. But I finally just pulled the top one off and threw it out.

There are much better options I’m sure but hopefully the dimensions will be helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to use these for covers inside the garage.

Good luck and post up what you find!

I bought the same one from Dom's original thread for our 60 and its been holding up fine so far and fits pretty good.

@scoobiedubes - I have bought several 5 layer generic car covers from carcover.com. I just went on the site and found one for the LV (1966-Toyota-LandCruiser-4 dr SUV). Link: carcover.com LVCover With the current discount (15% code at top of page) the price is $152.99 with free shipping. It's an excellent, multilayer cover and in the sun, snow, rain my Fj60 cover lasted 2 years. The good news is that there is a a replacement warranty even for deterioration. I tested the warranty late last year for the 60 cover. Sent in a picture, described the fabric was deteriorating, and all I had to pay for a replacement cover was $30 for shipping. Make sure you create an account on the site and your purchase history will be stored for when the Arizona sun destroys your cover and you request a replacement. Highly recommended.

Great advice, thank you! The Arizona heat wreaks havoc on a lot of stuff - I haven’t paid for a battery in years because they never outlast the warranty! I had not thought of just taking advantage of a good warranty, so that sounds like the ticket.

I did research a bunch of different old SUVs and found that the 1980 ford bronco is pretty darn close to the same size as the LV. Coverking makes some very high quality (though more expensive) covers, and I have a feeling the bronco ones would fit nicely. But I think I’ll order the cheaper carcover.com one as you recommended since at least they have the LV in their database.

Does anyone have experience with regards to rain and mold growth? One of my 40’s is soon to be out of a garage space due to my P car finally coming home. It will have to be outside and in GA we have tons of rain along w high humidity so mold under the cover is a concern. Thanks

I have had a 5 layer cover on my 60 for about 5 years. Washington DC is certainly not as humid as Georgia, but my experience with the cover is a minimal mold build up under the cover. The cover not super snug with allows the air flow under and over the cover. The worst thing I have experienced is high winds getting under the cover and trying to lift it off the vehicle. There are straps that go under the vehicle front and rear to avoid lift off. After 2 years the inside layer, soft felt, has shown a bit of discoloration which is probably the start of mold, but the sun deterioration at the 2 year mark makes it time for a new cover anyway. Hence why I really like, and have tested, the replacement warranty.

My 2 cents - a cover on older vehicles is a net benefit over just keeping them exposed. You just need to take the cover off once in a while and give your cruiser a bath...and a Sunday drive in the country. Keeps the carb clean too. :)

Hope this helps.
