Any HZJ76 models in Canada???

Hi folks

Just wondering if anyone has heard of any HZJ76 Landcruisers arriving in Canada??? I've been creeping on mud for a while and I haven't read any posts in regards to them.

I'm going to be looking for a 4 door 76/77 in the new year.......I'd love to have a 76 and I'd like to hear from another owner about how they fare for highway driving etc. I understand that I will most likely need to budget for a turbo setup. I commute from Abbotsford to Burnaby for work.

They're not 15 years old yet so can't be imported. Your best bet is a 77

I thought the 76 series started in 1999? I've spoken with Mark at Braveauto...... I'm probably going to go down that route in bringing my 70 series to BC

Yup the 76 series started in 2007. Its when they facelifted it. Got another 8 years to wait or you can troll the for sale section here on mud. There's a few guys that are using the new body style on 80 series frames

There are a few HZJ77's around, Forelboreal has one in NW BC, so does Ratpuke in Central AB, plus a few more that have posted. If you do a search here on mud you will find them and can ask them questions, they would probably be more then happy to tell you how awsome those trucks are

Thanks for the replies guys........I'm wondering why the Japanese auction sites have 1999 HZJ76K Model land cruisers at auction??? are these not eligible for Canadian importation? I've been monitoring the JDM auctions for well over a year now and they're starting to pop up more frequently. I was hoping to get something like this.

Sometimes they get posted at auction with the wrong year. Seems like it's usually off by 10 years. eg.2009 will show up at auction as 1999.

But in my opinion the only thing your gaining over the 77 is the coil front end. The transmission sucks in those trucks if you ever want a power upgrade.

You can't go wrong in getting a 77 from Mark. It will cost more up front but will be plug and play when it lands here. Auctions are always a bit of a gamble even if you have a trusted friend there. Mark does have the knack of getting high quality vehicles before they end up at auction. But if you have the money and inclination to gamble and aren't afraid of doing work on it when it lands, you can get some good deals too. I have a few friends who have been extremely happy with the Cruisers and Safaris they have imported. Some even did their own customs brokering to save $$$. The only thing I have imported is a couple skids of parts with a friend. Using a broker cost a bit of money but made it quick and easy.

I do recommend that you get Mark to fill up the truck with consumable parts that may be difficult or expensive to find in Canada: water pump, belts, brake pads, brake rotors, calipers or rebuild kits, brake/clutch cylinders or rebuild kits, oil filters, clutch kit, tie rod ends, universal joints, front knuckle and hub kit, rear bearings and seals, etc. When you get to the stage you have got a vehicle, let me know. I have found a place in Australia and another in the Middle East which sell OEM or top quality replacement parts for Nissan Patrols and Land Cruisers at very good prices. Their shipping is reasonable and quick. You can then compare the prices for parts that Mark quotes you to them. Sometimes parts in Japan can be considerably more expensive than the same part in Australia or the Middle East. I ordered a hub/knuckle rebuild kit last year from the Australian source on a Thursday (their Friday) and it was here at my door the following Tuesday Afternoon. That is actually faster than stuff I have order from within Canada or the USA. Both sources use DHL and there was no need to deal with Customs brokering.
