Any help for a newb?

ERG80- Thank you for that help. Might just make it into the garage- might have to lose the sunroof deflector.

If anyone wants to chime in with any further advice or opinions on this rig please ler 'er rip![/quote]

IMHO, I would not recommend you lose that. Sunroof needs all the help it can get. It's nice to have, but can develop problems that most want to avoid. Do a search on "sunroof" if you have any doubts. If it starts leaking, usually by the time you find it, the damage has already been done. - My .02.

LKA... you need to channel you deisel envy into postitive forms man ;) How do you know its a fart can, it might sound incredibly good. Sure its bigger than a 1fz's and a bit shiny too but it thats a custom SS performance system that provides the best performance, then thats the one id want on there.(maybe tucked outta harms way a bit) Besides w/ a side exhaust youd be filling your cab w/ fumes and having to wax that side of the truck twice as often. :)

No diesel hatin' here. :D

I've just had it with all the owners of import cars who slap fart-cans on the tip and try to make it sound fast, even though the tiny 1.6L just can't make past 100 HP.

You can PM Mot if you want one of those rear wind deflector. Welcome by the way :flipoff2: You got a nice saweeeet rig there:flipoff2: Cool looking 80.

Mine fits into a "standard height" garage and has the factory roof rack which sits a little higher than the deflector. Its a tight fit.

IMHO - whoever owned that looked like they spent the coin in the right places! It's a really nice rig and i'm hsure you'll get the envy of many a Mud Member getting back into the LC scene with something like this! Good on ya mate! You really scored!

I understood that the deflector could contribute to leaks... Is it better to remove it and inspect the gasket/seal or leave it in place...

I've had my 80 for 9 years with the deflector and no leaks. I've pulled it off twice to clean & inspect/Armor All the seal. I almost lost the hardware on one side because I didn't check it as often as I should. I'd say PM deflector and sunroof drains and periodically check that the hardware is tight and you should be ok. The only way I could see it causing leaks is if it's neglected and the straps that hold it on get tweaked and prevent the seal on the sunroof from sealing. Or if it's left parked nose down hill in a lot of moisture for an extended period of time. The deflector forms a pocket for water to collect and possibly overload the sunroof drains inside the Cruiser.

nice rig! did you get that from tyeeimports or was it another importer..? i remember seeing the ad for it and drooling over it..thinking "if i only waited 7 more months.." lol. of course after i bought my 80, out come all these nice 81's at decent prices. good to see a 'mudder score this one...

lift looks at least 4" but not more than 5. tires look to be 35" TSL's. interco's are usually bang on if not a bit bigger than stated size. could be 36's though...hard to tell with a lifted 80.

from one bc'er to another...welcome to 80 ownership :flipoff2:

Do you have access to higher quality photos than you have posted here?

If so you can answer your own question by reading the side of the tire.

By the way.

The vehicle pictured DOES NOT have a 1991 grille. The flares appear to be the early narrow type from 91-92 but it's not conclusive.

Don't know Tyee- sorry. I do know that the grille was exchanged at some point. I kinda like the clean look without accessories. (stealth factor?) Truck should clear customs week of the 20th November then it's off to Ateb for a full front to back baseline. Sofar it looks good but I will be sure to follow up here when I get my mitts on the wheel. I have a ton of pics but was unable to zoom on the tires. I suspect a lot of importers draw from a common pool of vehicles. I got a good feeling from the guy I am dealing with -so far- (NK Imports) he seems to be delivering a bunch of vehicles and they are all pretty tight. there are 2 81s on his lot one is pretty nice and the other is a bit of a roach but prices reflect this. He mostly brings specific cars in for people (like I did) and doesn't offer the big service packs but hey- I know where Ateb is and I can oversee that part.
