Any decent Fj40 alternator replacement options out there? (internal voltage regulator)

Thats a good question. The pic doesn't quite look like what I got. I did not quite realize I already had an fj60 alternator I was replacing. Mine had a GM reman sticker on it and I thought it was some GM alternator....but it was actually an fj60 alternator I already had. I had a connector that looked like the pic below (the two prong connector i think you are asking about). The alternator I received (within the last 3 months) had this type connector on it. Can't promise what happens now...but I understand these guys are shipping out a LOT of these alternators. Really the only thing going on here is that there is one wire signalling ignition (IGN) and anything else can pretty much be ignored in that plug. You can just send them a query. They were pretty responsive when I had a very different question.

I was curious what the pigtail in their picture was. This makes more sense, but looks nothing like the image on their website. Are there any identifying markers/ stickers on the alternator you received?

Did you get in touch with them? I'm curious - I may need an alternator, and while I've got some local rebuild options, I'm wanting something a bit more "future-proof," and Toyota seems to be discontinuing remanufactured alternators (can't get one for my 100 series anymore).

The pigtail is installed at the factory of this aftermarket CCP Alternator, and it's not removable; It connects to the stock harness connector. VR is internal. It's a new replacement that fits and, according to those who use it, works fine.

If you order the PURE ENERGY 14340 from RockAuto, this is what shows up, even though the picture on the website shows the stock, 2 o'clock VR alternator ND. It did for me, anyway, and I returned it. I was looking for a stock reman unit.
