Any 70 series with 1HZ live in areas with bad Winters?

In SE Wisconsin and hopefully will be getting my 2000MY HZJ76 delivered soon (?)

Chatting last night with a relative in Hokkaido and he mentioned he heard about me buying the truck...

He asked when I was planning to install a block heater on it.

That never crossed my mind.
Is that an issue with the 1HZ in cold weather?

Granted it gets to about -20F (before wind chill) during winter, but I don't even have a problem starting my 07' Yaris during those temps.
Granted that's not a Diesel...

I planned on parking on the driveway during winter, but...

There are a few threads on mud about this... most tend to go with a circulating one of good quality. I installed one that heats through the heater core as well so you get warm air as soon as you start the vehicle. I would go with the 1000w one if you choose to go this route. I installed a 750w one and I found on colder nights it could be a little more. Still sufficient, but it takes a little longer to heat the cabin once you start out. For details, it is somewhere in my build thread.

Our fleet of 1hz' s start pretty well to -30C if everything is up to snuff. After that it's ether or the good brake klean and booster packs.
My personal hzj75 has a 1500watt recirculation heater.
My 1HD-FT has a Webasto for those days when you are definitely away from help.
