I have a '66 45 that has the sway bar bolted to the underside of the bed. It also came with the linkage kit from marksoffroad. I got up under the truck to see what else I needed to fit it up and found that there are no anchor points on the axle . I've looked on the sor site and see that all looks right except the axle. Am I missing something? I am thinking that the rear axle may have been replaced at some point. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Carlos

The rear axle should have mounting points welded to it, if they are not there some one has changed the rear axle housing at some point. on another note the brackets would not be hard to make and weld on.

I happen to have my axle housings handy so I went a snapped a pic. Like Mike just said, it would be pretty easy to add the mounting tabs.

thanks

Thanks for the replies and especially the picture!! Just as I feared, my axle does not have the mounting tabs. Now I have to figure out what I actually have and also get some tabs welded.

Thanks for the help.

Carlos

If your rear axle housing has shock mounting studs on it, it may be a 73 and older FJ40 rear axle housing. That is one of the signs.

There are many shops that sell small tabs [ruffstuff, bluetorch] that will do the job for this as well, if not better than stock.

Note: if you have a lift on your 45, you should plan on cutting and extending the linkage between the swaybar and the axle. I added 4" to my links when I put on my new Alcans.

I am adding some of these to my axles. roughstuff does not sell anything this small, i called. i just made my own out of some 3/16" plate. will post pics when finished but pretty basic and as mark said, better than stock.

Cool. I'll keep an eye for them. Are you doing the welding yourself or taking it to a shop?
