Trying to figure out how to stop being crazy about this but I just don’t know what else to look into. I’m having a pop when going from reverse and braking (pop from driver side) and then going back to drive and braking. I also get a steering wheel shimmy above 50 mph

The list of replacement parts is pretty ridiculous at this point but here we go

All new bushings in lower control arms (did not solve)
Repack bearings ( did not solve)
Front ball joints in lca 555 ( did not solve)
New spc upper control arms ( did not solve)
New steering rack and tie rod ends( did not solve)
New front diff bushings (did not solve)

The CV axles appear to be fine after multiple tests/ do not leak or anything.

Hub flange splines look good.

Had a shop re do the preload on front bearings.

I just don’t even know what to look for anymore so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Check your front shock mounts esp the lower bushing.

Were your UCA & LCA bolts fully torqued with the suspension fully loaded?

Just had shocks replaced at a shop with new hardware. Double checked torque as well on those after 500 miles. Lca and uca were torque at ride height as well.

Wouldn't effect the shimmy but have you greased the propeller shafts yet? May reduce the "pop"......
For the shimmy I'd check tire balance or alignment.

Stock ride height or lifted? Have you replaced sway bar links and bushings? Rear control arms/bushing? Were the steering rack bushings replaced with the rack?

Rides at 21.5” sway bar end links and bushings also replaced with extended ones for the lift. Bushings in rack were also new. Rear control arm bushings have not yet been replaced but the pop is definitely coming from the front left.

And the noise is the same before and after all of those parts being replaced? Pops are usually ball joints. Shimmy bushings/tires/alignment.

Been wheeling lately? Possible you bent/broke something?

Correct. The last thing on my list is cv axles at this point. Ball joints were just replaced less than 2k miles ago and I just double checked them and they’re fine.

not since everything’s been replaced unfortunately or fortunately

Bad CV axles certainly could be the issue. Typically more of a "click" than a pop, but depends on how bad the joint is worn.

well thinking it might be cv axles. Looks like there’s some play even with new flanges so my splines might be starting the

It’s kind of a mix between a pop and click. I stumbled upon some videos of axle play and definitely think this could be the issue. With foot on brake I’m getting cv rotation from drive to reverse. Also noticed some flange play when I took everything back apart last night. Since it’s the last thing possible to replace on the front end I went to a local Lexus dealer and tested a new flange on a new axle and there was absolutely no play so it seems like it could be the solution. Axles currently have 280k on them so despite them being overall “good” I guess my splines are just worn out. Luckily had a sale and extra coupon for the axles and flanges. Will update when I get them installed either later this week or in two weeks when I get back in town.
