Pretty good work. Body work scares the heck out of me. I have a body sitting on a trailer down in Thayne that I have to sand blast and restore one of these summers. I don't think the rust is as bad as on yours. I like what I see though. Seeing someone else do it reassures me that I can do it. Maybe not as nice. Lol.
 
Roof Rack

Got the roof rack completed this morning. Will start on the mounts tomorrow.. Hoping to have that done for tomorrow night.. I'm thinking 6 mounts for a 52" x 76" rack, but maybe 8. Any thoughts guys?

No vertical supports in corners?
I went with 6 confer mounts on mine...
 
I'm of no help. I've never had the roof rack. I had an idea to use feet the whole way across the roof: Four or five across at each crossmember. Bolt them through the roof. The outer feet, on the sides, as close to the side curve as possible, possibly formed around the curve. The idea being that all the feet attached to the roof make the roof and the rack one solid piece and the rigidity of them both together would give you a lot more strength. Just a thought. I'm no engineer by any stretch of the imagination, so...

Well I got a call from my local wrecking yard source and they have a possible Volvo donor on some grey leather seats like I had in my old one. I loved those.. They had a little fab to get mounted, but man were they comfy for my big ***!

I'll report back on them.
 
Any tan ones for my Betsy??!!
 
I'll go tomorrow and take a look.. I'll send you pics if they have anything in the tan/brown dept. You want manual or electric seats, leather or cloth?

This guy usually has some pretty good stuff for REALLY Good prices. My friend got a set of black cloth S80 Volvo seats from him for 150.00. See above post, Rocker roughed in..." I had to edit this because those are not my seats, they are my friends that I used to see how they would bolt in.

Tan or brown. Cloth or leather. Prefer manual, but power would be pretty trick and not a deal breaker... Great prices are always good!

I wish I could say i was joking, but sadly, no. Maybe it was my use of the word "Feet" that was humorous, I don't know. The idea interests me because I never liked the gutter mounts, looks wise. But, now you have me laughing at myself Finny. Is it that bad an idea?

Reevesci, what do you think of putting some strip with holes that have been pressed with a dimple die the whole way around the rack between the upper and lower tube?

Wyo, that's what I was thinking for the corners.

BUT the metal supply guy brought me 1/4" x 4" strap.. So, I'll be waiting for another piece. I was gone when they dropped it off. My salesman said to keep it and they'd bring the right material later today or tomorrow. I was only a few blocks from there when I went to the wrecking yard to check out some seats..

So just to get an idea I'll cut some pieces to go on the corners for now, just to see what it might look like.

Finny, no luck on seats for Betsy or Blue. They were in bad shape and I didn't see anything worth messing with in your choices either. I'm gonna go to Salt Lake on Saturday. I'll see what they might have there.

Started on the gutter mounts this morning. Here is what I got done so far. One down and 5 or 7 to go. Should get these done today.

Want to get my ladder done as well. That will go quick I know, already have my idea on that one.
