Here we have the makings for the new passenger front cab mount that are cut out. A little fab work ahead slice and dice along with weld and grind ahead.

Here are some current pics of the ongoing tear out. Although it looks nasty and rusty I was surprised that it wasn’t as bad as I expected. The tear out is a time eater but it will look great after the new shiny metal pieces are welded back into place. The rear cab mount looks pretty ugly but will take on a new face as we tear it out and replace it also.

Ron is saying that he is moving along as we are still waiting for one floor part from real steel when that comes in it will complete the needed parts so he can bring the floor to a close and move on. The rear tub mounts are still needed, also applied some POR-15to the rear enclosed areas to keep the rust beatles at bay.

Skip, is this the red 45? Thought it was a solid 45, I remember wanting to buy it. Wasn’t it a California native?

It appeared solid but a bunch was covered very well with fiberglass. So the work has begun, I was very disappointed and I kick myself for not being more careful I should of known better. Anyhow the worst part is over, just a bit more then to paint it goes and it is fixed right.

That's awesome. I was trying to figure out how to do that for my cab 👍.
Non of this stuff is rocket science but their is a level of skill to be able to preform these operations. Ron has been doing Hot Rod as well as fabrication on 4x4’s for 50 + years and I have learned a tremendous amount from him, he makes it look easy. As well as being a master craftsmen’s, he is starting on the passenger side with pics below.

Here is the last part of the tub puzzle, not as involved as the other side but still I consider a mess. After the floor and back section is replaced the inner and outer rockers will be replaced on both sides. Doing it this way helped to keep the cab in proper alignment so the doors will fit and keep the tub square and factory like. This give the tub a fresh new life and extermination of the rust beatles as I see it another 70 years or better of life to go and play
In the dirt. Stay tuned for the future pics and final completion.

Ron pretty much has the tear out done on the passenger side and it looks much better or less rust out than other. Next he he has been working on making the repair pieces the Real Steel don’t make and closer to completion. A bit more work on the surface rust and POR15 for future prevention of the rust beetles continuing and then install the inner and outer rocker panels from Real Steel and dune with the floor section. A bit of modification to the driver fender to fill in where the steering box sandblast the front clip and ready for paint, making progress...
