.....
Looking at the EPC for the Japanese Domestic Market for August 1980 to October 1984 for BJ4# cruisers, I see EDIC is listed as being used only on August 1980 to October 1982 2B-powered vehicles....

.. also strange to me is the BJ46 should of had the 3B for that year 83/84 I have never seen one come to auction with the 2B.

I think the BJ46 always had the 3B engine (and no other).

When Toyota say BJ4# in their EPC, they are using the # to represent "a range of numbers" (so you never know exactly which models are included or excluded .... so it can be rather annoying).

PS. And on top of this, we've got to remain alert to the fact that the EPC (like other Toyota published information) can't always be relied on for accuracy either.

Update

Spent some time tracing the white 4-wire round connector (supposedly EDIC) in engine harness.. the connector has 4 wires:

1. Blue
2. Red/Blue
3. Red
4. White/Black = Ground

Okay.. found 3 connectors near Steering column connectors whose pins showed continuity.. Blue in one, Gnd single one, and Red in another (this one had the oil signal too).. Red/Blue still untraced

Here is the picture of the 3 connectors.. what is this guys? Is there a 3 connector fuel control relay setup ? :S

dropper meter

After testing and retesting, cleaning up contacts and such, and still no reading on fuel and temp gauge, i came across this search on the dropper meter, and i dont see one on the back of my cluster. could this be the reason for inoperable gauges?? Did all 24v cruiser have them? I did a search on the part#83145P-60010 and it is not available. Is anything else available to drop the volts??

Hi Fatdiesel,

Go to: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-seri...l-gauge-shows-full-when-tank-half-full-2.html at the end of this thread you'll find info about the dropping resistor.

So instead of making a new thread, perhaps a continuation here makes sense.

1980 BJ41 2B (24v)

If I'm logically deducting correctly after reading this thread, a 12v water temperature gauge should be able to be fitted to a stock 24v meter (instrument cluster) without any need for additional modifications correct?

The OEM "24v" is no longer available (83410-60014 ), but I'm thinking a 12V water temperature gauge should work in the 24v cluster.

Thanks in advance.
