@BJ40Green

I need help please.. im sorting out the wiring.. basically opening up all harnesses and cleaning and redoing it.

I need some pics of wiring layout in a 24v J40.. also the diagram of how AC is hooked up... it would be great if you can post some more scans from you FSM :)

im goign to clean up the whole harnesses.. engine.. underdash.. the rear one was found cut :(

Hello Akif,

Sorry, bit I don't have a diagram for a/c systems.
Maybe "Coolerman" has one on his website Coolerman's Electrical Schematics and FSM File Retrieval
I"m not sure if all the knobs and switches match between a 40 and a 44 or if there are other differences you run into.
I hope other mudders chime in.

Good luck,

Rudi

Hi Rudi,

thanks for the link.. it has got some great info :)

electricals of BJ44/46 are same as BJ42 24v.. there is no difference in knobs and all.. the only difference is the rear tub is about 14 inches long and the rear leaf spring is longer.

I need to see how glow plug wiring works with the Timer, Pre Heating with a single Glow relay.. also how EDIC works as i didnt find an EDIC relay in the wiring loom

Hi Akif,

Right now this is the best diagram I have at the moment but I'll be looking for another one.
View attachment bj40_series_wiringdiagram.pdf
Notice the EDIC left below the starter motor.

Please explain clearly with or without timer / Single (manual) glow relay. Makes it a bit eassier for me to search.

As usual, good luck,

Rudi

Rudi,

well this diagram is different.. specially the glow circuit.. doesnt mention the Timer Pre heater etc.. any diagram that shows how super glow works in a 40 series will help

Akif

Okay here is the first confusion..

I cant seem to find the Fuel control relay connectors.. also cant determine where the glow relays are installed

this picture is of the left side corner of the RHD dash wiring.. the EDIC relay should be around the glove box.. but there is no connector.. its only the pre heater timer and starter relay... where are the main and sub glow relays installed ??

EDIC motor connector (round one) is present in the engine wiring loom.. cant figure out the glow plus wires :S

Sounds like you have a pre 82/83 manual glow harness not the super glow....manual does not have the two relays the superglow has in the engine bay since you control the glow cycle by the length of time you hold the key in the reverse position unlike the superglow were you turn the key forward one click before the cranking position and wait for the light to go out and the distinct click of the relay.

Dieseler, this is what i thought initially.. but the glow indicator is a bulb instead of the coil type glow controller!

Also the donor is a BJ46 83/84 JDM.. with a 3B it must be having the superglow system.. Pre Timer Heating is part of super glow.. there is one digram of BJ42 here on mud that can solve the mystery but the picture is not readable.. my bad luck

I will have to look at my 42 or 44 and see if I can snap a pic or two for you...is it the engine bay part of the harness you need reference for.

Yes.. I need the engine bay part of the harness.. Probably both the Glow relays are installed in engine bay with current sensor and resitor etc.. a few pictures will help for sure

I found this diagram that perfectly tell how things hook up.. although its for HJ60.. but i think late 83/84 40s got stuff from 60s as mine got rectangular connector at places where older 40s used to have round ones.. im going to trace the wires going to engine bay

update.. found 3 conectors in engine harness for glow relays.. one has heavy gauge wires.. other 2 are relay actuators .. they are in front of the passenger side battery

There is an EDIC connector in engine harness.. but im unable to locate the connector for EDIC relay in the undash harness.. its nowhere near the glove box :S

Hi Akif,

Here's a pre-heat diagram from a 1988 FSM for B or 3B powered Dynas/Coaster.

SuperglowB3BDynaCoaster.webp

It seems identical to the HJ60 one you posted but without the ignition relay and glowcurrent sensor (and with fewer glowplugs of course).

I have never seen a superglow wiring diagram that specifically states it is for any BJ4# cruiser so maybe this is it?

Guys.. this community is just great.. Super glow sorted.. its the dyna/coaster one :)

Now comes EDIC diagram.. there is the EDIC motor connector in engine harness.. but cant find the EDIC relay connector in dash harness.. its nowhere near the glove box area

Keep looking its gotta be there some where... IIR the harness extends from the main loom behind the gauge cluster to the relay which is up behind the glovebox,I will take a look but one of mine has A/C so I cant seem to trace it out and the 42 is covered up right now this weekend I will look and see if I can snp a pic.

Okay.. another hour spent on knowing the harness.. cleaned up the engine harness.. found both glow plug relay connections etc.. Its super glow for sure.. and sorted thanks to Mud :)

Here is the other challenge.. there is no connector for EDIC relay in dash harness.. engine harness got a round plug with four pins.. the pins is not like the ones of BJ42 EDIC relays.

Is there a EDIC-less version of 3B in 84 cruisers??

......
Is there a EDIC-less version of 3B in 84 cruisers??

We are talking about an 83/84 BJ46 right?

Looking at the EPC for the Japanese Domestic Market for August 1980 to October 1984 for BJ4# cruisers, I see EDIC is listed as being used only on August 1980 to October 1982 2B-powered vehicles.

So a 3B-powered BJ46 from 1983/1984 seems to be outside the range on two counts (the date-of-manufacture and the engine).

I've just spent at least an hour trying to track down a photo of the LH-side of a 3B from a BJ46 without success. So perhaps you should pm one of the MUD BJ46-owners and ask them to confirm that they have no EDIC Akif?

Yes its an 83/84 BJ46 JDM.. im convinced its non EDIC.. i would be adding an EDIC relay for the 2B turbo i got.. will use same 4 wire plug and will tap the wires near glove box to install the EDIC relay

Strange that they dropped the EDIC for 83/84 BJ46 years since the BJ42 which ended production in 84 had the EDIC as well as the BJ60 a couple years after this even though they had the 3B one would assume the 2B would be the same... also strange to me is the BJ46 should of had the 3B for that year 83/84 I have never seen one come to auction with the 2B.
