I wish i could have followed you guys! As we were leaving the camping area, the engine kept stalling when braking and coming to a stop. I don't know if it is a vacuum leak or what...but it did great for a short little trip. Still have some work to do on it. It was good meeting everyone though.

Here are my videos, there are not too exciting, but it was fun. See if you can find another one of Teds famous quotes in the videos and I will give you a prize at the next monthly meeting

Finally, I figure out the you tube posting, but not my tires.... Ugh!!

I am badly in need of getting my new Tacoma dirty and finding new camping spots for when spring comes. Am I to take Nimblewell Church Road off of Hwy52 then follow that up to Nimblewell Gap Road? Via Google maps I am not seeing road #'s. Thanks all!

Old Bucktown Rd a few weekends ago after snow-wheeling all day in NC.
Stumpy was sight-seeing and fell in the hole. I was trying not to laugh and spot him one-handed while shooting the video.

We're camping up there next weekend, btw.

Look for maps on my ExPo link.

I wish I could. I have too much momentum going on the project truck. I'm afraid to stop!

Nelson,
Would love to see the pictures. You had a great thread going for a while; why not restart it & fill in the gaps?

(Ted, Sorry for the hijack. Back to Amicalolla)

Larry, unheated garage has me in hiatus until the spring thaw. Earlier this week I tried to turn on the water spigot INSIDE my garage and it was frozen! Thanks for the interest though.

We will most likely be somewhere close to the directions below. Trying to camp near the water. We are probably going to get up there around 12pm and hit the FS roads. I have never been up there so I don't know where exactly I'll be, but thats the fun part! Gray FJ62

from:Nashville, TN to:Nimblewill Church Rd to:34.605096,-84.15081 - Google Maps

Interpreting the map:
Off Nimblewell Church Road, go north up fs-28.
Bear left and keep going north at fs-77/28 split, taking fs-77.
The next left is fs-77a --- it's a hard downhill sort of left that's easy to drive past.
Follow 77a for a while. Up some hills, down some hills, around a pretty sharp bend. It's bumpy but not a "trail", just a semi-maintained road.
You'll come to clearing eventually with a grassy field on the left, a bit of muddy road in front and a very small bridge, and a right turn that isn't on the GPS --- take this right turn, it is fs-877 and you'll see a small sign that says that.
As you go up 877, you'll immediately see 3 campsites on the left; this is the popular area for weekend warriors. The larger and more private sites are toward the end of this road. Just keep going and you'll understand. You'll come to two water crossings; there are 2 campsites before the first one, one in the middle on the island, and 3 after the second ---- this stretch is the area to occupy.

Thanks for posting these directions. I went and explored these sites today. Seemed real nice. Anyone know, how busy are these sites in the spring and fall? Usually one available or is it a scramble after work on Friday to get one?

Thanks, I got the Tacoma dirty & got to test out the locker and A-track.

I've been there in all 4 seasons. Spring is pretty busy, mid week isn't too bad. You can usually hit the trails and find a camping spot thats open. The weekends are a different story. Summer is usually hit or miss. Some weekends are full and some aren't. The fall is again, hit or miss. And winter is usually empty. The brush is the worst spring and summer. It's so overgrown after you pass all the camp sites and you get into the actual trail. I had branches wider than my 100 slide across the windshield and "screech" down the side. Pretty much all the pinstriping I have is from Amicalola, and I have quite the collection unfortunately.

Here are a few fun pictures we got the last trip. Definitely a fun area.

Thanks for posting these directions.
Funny; I wrote those directions last year. Somebody copy-pasted them...

The Jones Creek sites have become more active & occupied this past fall. The WMA ceded the land south of fs-42 back to the FS and the FS came in and graded the road, laid gravel, and opened it back for hunting.
I've seen big Gypsy Wagon trailers in there since then.

I've got a new area to explore on Saturday; hopefully we can keep it ungraded and quiet.
