I'm going to be honest...I wasn't expecting this to look good at all, but it turned out friggin sweet. It looks very well applied, and much less "bulky" than I envisioned it would be. I do think that it looks a little odd that the rest of the truck isn't done up to the roof line, but I do understand that cost was an issue.

Would you mind sharing how much a project like this would cost?
agreed...

I think it looks great! If I could completely rule out the need to sell the LC someday (upgrade purposes only!) then I'd look at doing the same. It just narrows the market of potential buyers too much IMO.

To the point about the cost... couldn't one just accept pinstripes and then pay to repaint later for about the same cost?

One could, but I had a few good dents that were now big primer squares and I had already removed the moulding. I priced out painting it and unless you are going to have it done at Maaco, a paint job will cost at least what this did.

That turned out way better than I thought it would. I guess most rigs you see bedlined already have some pretty good body damage and the black accents it, but it looks good on the hundy. I agree that you need to do the front pillars and behind the rear windows so it all matches up to the roofline. I would also test out some rattlecan bedliner on your door handles, rear vents and maybe mirrors - probably not easy for them to lineX those, and the rattlecan will at least get you a similar texture.

Interested to see your satoshi grille. Which version of "Toyota" script are you going with?

The rattle can is a great idea. The only issue with it is it doesn't have the UV resistance, but you can always respray i guess :) I'll test it on the backs of the mirrors, they already look haggard.

I found a guy on one of the Tacoma forums that Plasma cuts out a bunch of logos and emblems for Toyota's. I'm doing a simple TOYOTA from him that I am going to Line-X as well. The cost is about the same as the 40 and 60 logos and it should be easier to attach since he makes them with the idea of attaching to a mesh grille Wix.com metalmiller order created by metalmiller based on Minimal Shop click on the emblem tab

How thick of a coating did you go with?
whatever the dude sprayed... Looks like a little less that a 16th on the edge I can see

Yes, I'd like to know what they charged to do that.
$1600. I spoke to 3 different Line-X dealer and 2 Rhino dealer as well as a couple smaller guys (speed liner) I got prices ranging from $1600 to $4000. 2 guys just didn't want to do it. One wanted the truck for 2 weeks and another wanted it for 4 weeks. The guty in town here Al's Tucson Line-X did it in a day!

It does look awesome. My question is this, do you have to change your vehicles color on your registration of no? It's like what do you do when you put a matte black wrap on a silver car...

The truck was already Black so I don't know???

When I bought it I was planning on doing this. It just took a lot of work and compromises to get someone to do it. I think the dealer would be much more open to it now that he has done one.

I'm sure it added a little bit of weight, but it also added a lot of road noise and vibration insulation.

And no more AZ pinstripes!!!

The truck looks more gray now than black, to me at least...but that could also be the effect of the sun in the pictures. Not sure on the color.

If I decided to do this, it would almost be worth it to me to tack on the 1800 miles round-trip to drive from denver to tucson and back, just to know that the person doing it has done it before and will do a good job. I really like the way it turned out for you.

I'll be in Greeley the first week of March if you wanna come check it out. Getting new front and rear bumpers, carls UCA's, king shocks, new 4.88's and whatever else we can cram into a week! Send me a PM if interested and I'll give you dates and contact info!

I agree it smells, I have to drive through Denver on the way up, at 11PM and on the way hoe probably around 6AM. Neither time sounds like a fun time to meet up. The axles will be off the truck for part of the time as well to do the gears.

Plus, I already know how great it looks...

I'll supply the sudsy beverages to overpower the stink :)

Not sure how I feel about it yet.... But, I am REALLY happy to see people out there doing real custom work on their rigs. It is time to start showing the 80's we are here to stay and proving even more our capabilities.... now if we can just get some after market Manf. to improve our suspension downfalls.......

I'm definitely interested in checking it out! Let me know when and where and I'll see if I can make it happen. I've got oddball days off right now (M/T/W), but that could change by then. We'll confirm closer to time.

PS, I know nobody was arguing this point, but Greeley does, in fact, smell like a toilet. Just sayin.

When I was in Boulder you knew the wind was blowing out of the North when it stank. The 'Greeley Wind' is a unique aroma.

Do you have a nickname for this rig? It has a certain Death Star quality to it...
