I have a 2000 LC that Ive owned for 12 years. I don't have the keyless remote anymore, so I just use the standard key to lock and unlock my doors.
Yesterday I went to unlock the door in the morning and the alarm went off (stock alarm, Ive never set it before). I hopped in and started it up, which turned the alarm off. Everything works fine and it drives fine. But while I'm driving, the power locks will lock and unlock randomly every minute or so. The locks also lock when all the doors are closed (its never done that before). This obviously isn't an emergency, but I'm a little nervous that it will lead to worse problems. Any help is appreciated.

I had the exact problem. Chased it all around and it still occurred even after replacing all my door lock actuators. DROVE ME NUTS.

The root problem was the the driver side door lock sensor was dirty. It made my door lock computer go coocoo caca when it couldn't tell if the door was locked/unlocked. Just pull the door panel, locate the small, round, off white plastic thing with wires coming out of it. It'll be attached to the door lock cylinder. Carefully remove it (two plastic clips IIRC), disassemble, spray it down with electronics cleaner, apply grease where necessary, reassemble, and watch your problems disappear.

reznunt- are you also having trouble with alarm or just locks locking.

The symptoms were:

Car locked/parked ---> When I press the unlock button the car nothing happened. I would unlock the car with the key and the factory alarm (horn and lights) would trip. I would have to put the key in the ignition and turn it on in order to shut off the tripped alarm.

After cleaning the lock sensor everything went back to normal including my remote functionality.

awesome! thanks I'll try that. I don't have the original key with the remote functions on it but I was given an after market key and a separate remote that hasn't worked. I didn't know why the seller gave me the remote.....but thanks again. fingers crossed.

I have the same problem and it only happens after a car wash or rain, goes away when it is all dry after a few days. I am still chasing the problem. Thanks for the tip on cleaning the lock sensor and will try it when it happens again.

You have clogged sunroof drains, water is getting into the electrics behind the kick panels. Clear your sunroof drains.
