Sorry to see this box carnage guys... I packaged to prepare for the worst, but these pictures speak for themselves- rough handling and general lack of care. Typically, we have had good success using FedEx, it's time to reconsider. It hasn't come up, but just so you guys are aware, considerable thought was given to the shipping box design/strength vs cost and shipping logistics. The use of a pallet was considered, but minimum cost and requirements for receiving i.e. loading dock, lift gate, etc made this shipping box a more cost effective option. Fedex considers this an oversized, heavy shipment but didn't transport to support this service. Going forward I'll look into using UPS and improve on shipping box design. If anyone has any additional questions feel free to contact me. Thanks guys.

While FedEx might have done their best (worst?) to cause damage, it seems they only succeeded with the box. The boxing methods saved the contents. Nice job!

Quick update...

I received everything last week. I didn't get a chance to start the install until last night. I ran out of daylight about half way through the install, so out came the flood lights. I was desperate to see this thing finished and installed. I think it turned out great. I'm posting some quick pics I snapped this morning after I got to work. Not the best lighting but it still looks pretty sweet.

On the down side, my box was pretty abused as well when it arrived. I unpacked everything to inspect it and I didn't notice anything at the time so I didn't sweat it. However, last night when I finished everything I noticed that the small platform for the Hi-Lift was sitting at a strange angle and that the edge of the platform showed a substantial scuff. Sure enough, the platform had been bent by FedEx as confirmed by the stress cracks in the paint underneath. I'm assuming this can be coerced back into position. Any thoughts?

In the meantime, here are pics. And by the way KellyC, nice rig!

Carrier looks great! You should be able to remove the spare tire and install the hi-lift jack to position the hi-lift platform back in alignment with the upper hoop and anchor point. Contact me with any questions. Josh

Thanks man!

I missed the group buy, but would like to purchase one of these. Any plans for another production run?

Is the swing arm held open by a strut/spring or is it free swinging?

Also, from the new, happy owners, any opinions after a week or so of use?

i haven't got mine installed [or even unboxed yet] , but I am wondering, what are you guys using to attach the wheel to the carrier?

old lug nuts? or for security, maybe locking lug nuts? couldn't tell in the pics posted so far

We sourced good condition OEM used lug nuts to keep this item similar to vehicle. Anti theft lugs are a good idea to add another layer of security. The carrier does offer some deterrent to theft as there is hardware located out of view on the lower arm that would slow dis-assembly. Josh

Looks good! If you haven't done so already install the provided license plate offset bracket. Please contact me with any questions. Josh

Working with fabricator to schedule another production run, estimating 3-5 units. Lead time is what I am trying to reduce.

Swing arm is held in the open position by a locking pin, this system also doubles as a secondary safety to keep the swing arm locked in the closed position.

Customer feed back from the group buy so far has been positive. This unit has been proven, please see the video below from from Drive4Sight who used our carrier on a 10K trek to Monogolia to help raise awareness to fight, eliminate, cataract blindness.

Thanks for responding. Glad to hear there will be another production run! I'd prefer passenger side, which I believe is standard at this point.

Regarding powdercoating, I'm going to have the factory wheels powder coated to match the gray stripe and bumpers on my collectors edition. It would be great to get the carrier powdercoated in the same color. If you are able to source the same color code we use on the wheels I'm sure it would come out right, but maybe it would be best to buy the carrier unfinished and have my local guy do the powdercoating on the carrier with the wheels.

Thanks in advance.
