Dear all, I’m at my wits’ end. For the past few weeks, the airbag warning light on my 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 has been coming on. It lights up about 5 seconds after starting the engine. I’ve checked the connections under the seats, replaced the clock spring, and inspected the seatbelt pretensioner connections. Techstream isn’t showing any errors. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you scanned it for codes?

Sorry I missed that in your original post.

Do you have the FSM? DI-927 "SRS Warning Light Circuit Malfunction" lays out a diagnosis procedure for this condition.

I do not have that particular page. Is it the procedure where you jump terminals E1 and Tc? I did that and I can see that the system goes in diag mode but the airbag light stays on solid. No flashing.

I've copied all the pages I think might be relevant below. For airbag light and NO code, the FSM is pointing towards a low voltage condition.

Also attached is the DI-923 and following procedures for when there is no DTC but the SRS light is on. If not voltage, it looks like "replace airbag sensor assembly" is next step.

Wow, thanks—this is really helpful. ChatGPT also pointed me in this direction, but with your input, I hope to make some progress. Thank you so much for taking the time!

After dozens of hours of troubleshooting, I found the cause of this problem. A broken wire between the airbag ECU and the instrument cluster, near the right kick panel in the passenger footwell. When the airbag light does NOT come on at first, but stays on constantly after about 6 or 7 seconds, the instrument cluster is not receiving any signal from the ECU and goes into safety mode. After soldering the wire, the problem was resolved. 😅
