I have a 95 4runner..I live in the south and i had to use my air allot this summer, and it was ice cold!...about a month or two ago when i would turn it on i would hear a belt squeak?...Now squeak sound is gone and air is not coming out cold? A few buddies said it sounded like compressor is kicking on and it read full of coolant?.But no cold air..Any ideas?...thank you!

I have not seen this?...It will work for about 15 mins(cold Air) when i first start it,..Then it stops and cold air stops flowing?

Well, open it up. Start the engine, turn the AC on fully cold, then take a look at the AC compressor. The clutch pulley on the front of the compressor should be spinning. If so, look for the drier, it should be behind the grille, a vertical cylinder, I think on the driver's side. Scrape the dirt out of the little divot on top, there's a tiny glass window under there. Shine a flashlight on it, you should be able to see foamy fluid swirling around under it.

If eventually the AC compressor shuts off, you may need a recharge. But this could also mean you have a leak somewhere.

Took it to a shop today all they did was give it a little charge...guy said it was about full...But i have the same problem-Runs cold for about ten or fifteen minutes then cold air shuts off?...I am perplexed?:bang:

Ok i looked in window...saw white stuff..but it still dies after 10 mins or so??

When it dies, how does it die? Is the interior fan still running and the air temperature slowly raises? Does the interior fan quit? Is the fan running, but air not blowing?

I suggest getting a copy of the FSM for your truck. Likely a near to your truck year version will do. There is a '93 FSM linked to by the FAQ. Under the Air Conditioning section there is a troubleshooting section.

Starts out cold..Then after a time(10 15 mins)..Temp raises(Fan still blowing)...I heard like a low hum right before temp raises?..perhaps from the compressor?...Thank y'all for any input you may have..C

"If your Toyota A/C compressor is not working properly then you might hear belt-slipping noise or sense clutch burning smell under the dash. If so, you need to look into it at the earliest."

This i found on a toyota parts site, I am definitely hearing the belt slip noise when i engage air con...I am reckoning compressor is going out?
