AHC any problems? (1 Viewer)

The 20's do hurt. My wife's Venza has them. Look pretty neat but that's about it.

Drove a new LX yesterday. Nice luxury SUV, but I would like, down the line to be able to go to 33" AT's like 285/60/20 BFG AT/KO2's don't know if you can mount these on a LX or what that would do to the ride. But if this would be my only ride I would like to be Able to drive across the country in the winter without worrying about getting stuck. Anyone drive one with 33" AT'S on the 20" wheels. Can you run 33" wheels on the LX with AHC.

I have the LX wheels on my land cruiser but went with Michelin MS2s 275-60-20 that are 33" in diameter so I have a much larger sidewall than the 31" stockers 285-50-20.
Sure the stock18s with 275-65-18 ms2s were uber comfortable but the 20s with the right tires are great.
Look into the thinner swaybar.

So your saying the 275/60/20 BFG AT/KO2's will work with no problem on the LX570? It is a 32.9" tire. Also do you think Lexus would try and give me any grief on the warranty for the slightly larger tires?

All tires are different. These ms2s rub very slightly on the mudflaps at full lock. Probably would go with 275-55-20 next tine

Why not just trade the 20s for 18s or have a spare set of 17 or 18s for off-road duties.
I would not take the 20s off-road simply because the finish will get destroyed.

Looks like the spec's on the BFG AT/KO2 show it as 32.9 versus your MS2's at 33. I like the looks of AT'S plus they are good in all weather conditions. Off road to me on a $90k vehicle is a graded dirt road ;). Thanks for the info

I got some Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Adventures with Kevlar 275/70r18 E ... Will install in a few weeks, trying to really squeeze every mile out of my OE tire before I pop them on for winter. We off road mostly on graded dirt roads and some rocky trails enough to beat up the running boards like crazy but never to do body damage. So we were looking for a tough tire but still a good quiet ride... From my research online and talking to a few guys at the tire shops here in town, these tires are rugged enough for light duty off road but ride quality is quiet and soft.

Just a thought! I looked on the goodyear site, they have a 285/55r20 E.

I have BFG AT/KO2 on my FJ Cruiser I like them too...

Will let you know what I think about the Kevlars in a few weeks when I pop them on

Wait is this a joke? You want to put
AT/KO2's on a new LX570. Is the joke on me for playing? Is this a troll?

I would put them on when I needed some new tires. I have 275/70/18 BFG AT/KO's on my 100. It came with 275/60/18 Michelins. Heavier tires could make the AHC feel better, not as jittery on small bumps. Just looking for LX owners with experience. It will be awhile before I trade just doing research. Only dumb question is one not asked.

Those have got to be some big ass speed bumps at your mall to requrie those 33
" tires ;).

Now something more supportive, I do n ot know if the LX has the same issues with unsprung weight as the LC200. Many reports of guys not being happy with the ride after going with heavier tires due to the jittiereness. Suposedly the Toyota chasis is not as rigid as it should be to handle heavier wheel tire combination. I have Toyota 20s on my LC and i can tell you that my 80 with 35" tall tires rides better over railroad crossings. Around corners it is a totally different story. My BMWs with low profile tires always rode great as soon as you ditched run flatts. Now only if I could have a ride of a BMW and the offroad performance of a LC in one package.

So based on what your saying the 200 series suspension, springs or AHC can't handle the same unsprung weight that my 100 series with OME suspension can handle? I'm getting confused is the 200 series a more robust platform out of the box then the 100 series? When I had AHC on any of my 100 series it handled great no jittery bump problems, has Lexus wussed out on the 200's AHC? In another thread someone was saying that the factory 200 shocks on the LC were crap and you needed to upgrade then if you added AT E series tires. Just trying to get some info and know what to expect if I get a 200?

Ok sorry. Just seemed like a weird combo for an everyday vehicle.

There are other LXs in the site with TRD 17"

I like the looks of the TRD 17" wheels. Are they a direct swap and what size tires do they run with no problems with the AHC? Thanks

Ok, to the guys that are running 33's. Do you have a 33 spare and will it fit under the 200?
I'll let you know when I slap mine on. I got a spare as well, based on what other members have said it fits on theirs... Will let you know on my vehicle in a few weeks

This thread is worthless. Sorry.

I guess since you don't approve of the information being exchanged this thread should be deleted??? I just love these editorial posts. Like you would come into a bunch of big guys talking about a subject your not interested in and walk into the middle of their exchange and tell them their conversation is worthless :). What people do on the Internet that they would not do in person, blows me away.

The linked build thread by Brian Jowett has a good discussion about weight and its efffects to unsprung weight. Seems the Tundra suffers the same issues. Maybe my expetctations are to high in regards to how this IFS should ride as I am coming from an 80 and BMWs. Possibly it is my 20" factory wheels and tires casuing the problem in the ride. Might have to solve it by going for the ever popular forged TRD rock warrior wheels that Tundra owners seem to not appreciate (they want Dubs on their trucks with mud tires) and select an oversized tire that is on the lighter side.

Well guys now I'm in the mix. Just bought a 2011 LX570 with 28k miles. I'm not taking it off road. The dealer put new Dunflop S5000 275/55/20's which should wear out in about 15-20k miles. BFG AT/KO2's come now in 275/55/20's. When the time comes would this be like putting combat boots on a guy wearing a tuxedo? I got time to decided. Well I decided to put a set of MicHelin Latitudes stock size 285/50/20. They should need replacing about the time my warranty is up. Should have better knowledge in 4 years of others experience with these other tires.

I say swap out the 20s for 17s or 18s. They'd be much much better off-road.
