Advice Needed on Purchase: FJ62 Donor Front Axles

Hello guys,

Came across this set of 1988 FJ62 Axles (4:11) for sale nearby! I currently have a bone stock 1971 FJ40 with drums all around. What are y’all’s thoughts on purchasing this set? I would like to have 4-wheel discs at some point in the future. Would this be a good starting point? I understand that the rears would have to be swapped to discs as the 1988 FJ62 had drums in the rear.

Would swapping both of my axles in their entirety be the better move? Or just the knuckles (and keep my existing FJ40 housing)?

The 62 axle housing is wider than the 40- on the ‘71 you can swap birdied and knuckles out and the long inner axle into the 71 housing without changing in your plumbing layout.
