I started off not wanting to touch this but here we are. Blacked out, Slee sliders, undercoating, I now I have installed a Dobinsons IMS kit (2.5" front, 2" rear).

I have Nokian NaT 275/65-18 tires on Tundra TRD wheels.

I don't want clearance or reliability or vibration issues.

However, I can't help but think I could fill the wheel wheels a bit more. And they are inset a bit.

I'm open to a different tire size but, again, don't want clearance issues. Don't want to trim or heat and shift anything.

I'm scared of spacers. I figured Toyota did a great job designing this vehicle and spacers seems like a questionable add to me from a bearing and vibration standpoint.

I know a lot of people have run them a long time but I'd prefer to stay away from them. It looks like a lot of people run 1.25" ones which seem like a lot to me.

Different wheels?

Thoughts and direction are much appreciated.

Thanks!

No first hand experience, but I think some run 275/70r18 without rubbing?

Only way to get a wider stance would be spacers or aftermarket wheels in a 25-40mm offset, but looks like you've got TRD Pro Tundra wheels which are WAY higher quality than anything you'll get in an aftermarket wheel. You might get a wider look by mounting a wider tire, like a 295, but then you're up against rubbing/fitment challenges.

My advice? Either learn to love it the way it is, or let go of your misgivings about tire fitment mods. It's really not hard to do and nobody will notice, will not affect resale, etc.

How do you like the ride on the IMS suspension? Did you own it when it was stock? I'd love a comparison :D

Thanks, great advice. I did own it when stock.

Since the install, I haven't had it off road. Just on road.

However, the on-road performance has been transformed.

Less body roll, brake dive, just as quiet and smooth. I would say I think the rebound over bumps could be controlled a tad better but overall, transformative. I am very glad I did this.

275/70-18s will slightly kiss the KDSS arm. Not really enough to worry about, will just rub the paint off and that's about it. This is at full lock only, so only at low speeds.

I'm a fan of running OEM wheels and using a quality spacer to get a little more offset.
I've used both bora and spidertrax spacers over the years. Bora quality control lately has been hit or miss for me. I've been super happy with spidertrax. Specifically I bought the ones from slee cause I liked the color better haha. No vibrations at all with everything installed properly.

I've been running 275/70/18s and 1" Bora spacers for almost 3 years now. No spacer related problems to report. Rubbing issues are minimal and very easy to deal with... but not zero. Fender liner needs to be pushed forward, front mud flaps trimmed or reshaped. Not a big deal and totally worth it.

Long story short if you want to fill the wheel wells more you will have to address some clearance issues. But I wouldn't let that stop you. Now that you've caught the mod bug it's just a matter of time.

You could go to a 285/65R18 (a little taller and a little wider than what you have) or a 275/70R18 on your current wheels with no real detriment. Add spacers or not, it will fill the wheel wells better. You might need to remove the front mudflaps. The wheels you have are higher quality than most if not all aftermarket wheels, so IMO running a reasonable (1 or 1.25") high quality spacer would be a better plan that going to lower quality aftermarket rims with a different offset.

Don't add spacers and the wheel well liners will be fine. Spacers solve KDSS rub, but create more/other problems due to scrub radius.

EDIT: Oh, wait, are you talking about the front side (bumper)? They might rub, but I wouldn't know, cuz the one I've seen has an aftermarket bumper :D

Yes the liner in front of the tire needs to be pushed forward. Pretty easy procedure.

Admittedly I don't know how they'd fit without spacers. My spacers went on at the same time as the tires.

OP, sorry to derail your thread, but how did you achieve your chrome delete?

I eventually went back to stock tire size because I was tired of trading function for form. Just saying.. if avoiding all the issues is so high on your list, and you only now wish it looked better.. I'd seriously debate the function vs form argument.

Your best bet are sub-33", including 285/65/18 or 275/70/18 on those BBS wheels or an aftermarket wheel with +25-35 offset. Since you already have them, I would personally add spacers and go the BBS route if you really don't want to move the plastics.

Thanks! I did catch the bug. It’s now getting more attention than my hobby car. But I use this more to its capability and the mods are to enable that.

The grille and the fog light bezels were painted.
The window trim and door trim pieces were wrapped.

The rear window trim was painted where I believe it can’t be removed. The rear trim pieces and badges were wrapped.

I believe this is correct. A company called Tint Pros in MN did it for me.

Those wheels look tiny after the lift, like your cruiser skipped leg days. You've got a beautiful rig and with some bigger tires and the right offset, that thing will be evenly more beastly. If you're scared of spacers then get aftermarket wheels in a +30 offset, that's what I did, saved a lot of money and the offset allow me to run 295/70/18 with very little work of the fender liner where it rubbed.
