Since no one has done a writeup on the Addicted Offroad front bumper for the 80 series, I figured I would.
I remember looking at his website a couple of years ago and really liking the design but disappointed Scott didn't make one for the 80 series. I ended up getting a Coastal Offroad kit and making a couple of subtle mod's to it and hanging it on the front of my 1991 FJ80. I since sold the 1991 and picked up a 1997 FZJ80. It came with the typical ARB front bumper, which I'm not a huge fan of, but for the moment it was better than nothing. I debated getting another Coastal kit but wasn't a huge fan of how the winch was difficult to get to and having to relocate the control box under the hood. I looked at Lukes (4x4Labs) front bumper (I have his rear one and it's awesome) but didn't like the amount it stuck out and something about the aesthetics of it didn't do it for me. I hit Addicted Offroads website and damn...is that an 80 series front ...yup . I called Scott and after speaking with him, I pulled the trigger. Fortunately, he had one sitting on the shop floor finished. The only down side of this was it took 41 days for him to ship it out. Scott explained he was in the midst of downsizing and moving shops (going from a large 10k sqft to much smaller 4k sqft shop) along with dealing with some personal stuff. Frustrating, yes... but was it a huge deal, no. My only complaint is a little better communication would have been good to have. I do not think Scott was intentionally delaying the shipment, I truly feel he was a little overwhelmed with everything that was on his plate and shipping a bumper out was very low on the list of priorities. Anyways, I picked it up yesterday from the FedEx guy and brought it home.
Overall impression...it's well designed and beefy without being a fat bumper. (Weight was 98lbs which is both the bumper and the mounting bracket) All of the supplied hardware was bolted in place so no bag of bolts for FedEx to lose. The tube work protects the needed areas and adds support to the bottom of the bumper. The dimpled holes are a nice touch and look good as well. The recovery points are pretty slick as well. Enough babbling, here are the pics.
