I am replacing the CV Axels on my 2001 Land Cruiser. I noticed the passenger side had a small gap between the axel and the differential. I was able to press the axel into the differential where the dust seal is fully inside the axel. There is a little bit of play (roughly 3mm) between it being fully pressed into the differential and pulled out as far as it will go.

Do I need to pull apart the this axel and replace the oil seal or is this play normal on the passenger side?

There is a little bit of play in the driver side but not nearly as much. I know some play is normal but this is my first time doing this job and would love to not nuke the entire job.
