All,

My FJ55 has a 2F engine with a Weber 38 carb (soon to be replaced with a rebuilt stock carb, but that is another thread).

I'm having trouble with the throttle linkage. It seems like there is a clip or spring or something that's missing. This causes the ball at the end of the accelerator rod to fall out of it's joint when the accelerator is depressed.

I have enclosed a photo. Can anyone with this setup tell me what I'm missing and where perhaps I can get a replacement? I've been to a few auto parts stores around my area and shown them the photo with no luck. Also tried a few parts from SOR and those didn't fit either.

Or, could someone that also has a 2F in their 55 post a photo of their setup?

Thanks!

C

PS I posted in the 40/55 thread earlier this month without much help.

I don't think it's that type of clip, only because my socket doesn't have a hole in it. It looks like a clip that holds a ball into a socket joint.

I'll check out Harbor Freight to see if they have something that would work. Right now I've got it joined together with Zip ties (the PO actually was using a piece of cardboard to hold it in place!).

Thanks!

I thought I responded to your other thread awhile ago.

It'll definately help to go back stock and get the alignment in better shape.

The pic above is the cliup I think needs to be there, even tho it's not a pic where your's is located. The ball needs to go further into the socket and the clip goes over the tang sticking out on the fender side of the socket.

unbfortunetly I'm on the road until next weekend and have no access to pics until then.

You definitely did respond... I just didn't see it until now! ;) Thanks for the response!

I'm pretty over my head on this as it is, but I know that the Ball cannot go further into the socket.

The Carb is a Weber carb. The part that confuses me a little bit is that the engine is a 2F out of an '85 FJ60, so I'm not sure how I would best go back to stock alignment. I think it's got the 60 linkage, and not the 55 linkage... so I think maybe that would be an option too...

Thanks!

The rod with the ball needs to come into the socket pependicular. Your setup now comes in at an angle.
Even the other rod below it is at an angle, all those pieces need to be in better alignment.

The 60 engine shouldn't matter as the engine is in the same position and the carb should be in the same position.

Either way the ball needs to go all the way into the socket.
