Anyone used this?

Compushift Toyota A750 LandCruiser Gated Automatic Transmission Controller - Wholesale Automatic Transmissions

I contacted them and they said they still make the unit and to ignore the out of stock status on the website. It is pretty spendy at just under $2,300.00 US and an additional $102.00 an hour for phone installation set up support. They estimated this would 2-4 hours. Shipping is free though. So the total to get it set up is around $2700.00

Spitronics also lists a universal transmission controller but does not specifically say it will run the a750f. I hae not contacted them yet.

Spitronics Engine Management

I want to use the a750f in my build and already have a 2uz, harness, ecu, and trans case. I do not want to start over and try to source a new harness and ecu that runs the a750. This would also change other parts of my setup as well.

Anyone tried either of these or know of another standalone transmission controller?

I sent Spittronics an email asking if their TC will run the a750f. I will post the response here when I get it.

I hope you get this done... i want that 5 speed in my 100 also

I should add that I am also looking for an a750f transmission out of a landcruiser, preferably with 160k miles or less. I created a wanted add in the classifieds. If anyone has one for sale or knows where I can find one please send me a message.

So, if you are looking at a standalone TCU, what are you planning on using for an ECU on the 2UZ-FE?

I'm not aware of any US (Toyota) vehicle that used a 2UZ-FE with a manual transmission. It is my understanding that the factory ECU acted as the ECU/TCU. It was also my understanding that the factory ECU got "unhappy" pretty quickly if it didn't see the transmission that it was expecting. Are you planning on "tricking" the factory ECU transmission inputs, running an aftermarket ECU, or is my understanding of the Toyota ECU incorrect?

I am using the 2uz out of a 2000 landcruiser but the harness and ecu are from a 2002 Tundra. I am hoping to trick the ecu into thinking the transmission is in neutral or park. Not sure yet if this will cause any issues with the engine. If it will run like this then I will use the standalone tc to run the 5 speed. Sounds easy enough, haha.

If anyone has experience with this kind of mess please chime in. Feel free to tell my why it will not work, I would rather hear it now than after I invest further into more parts that will not mesh.

I spoke to Randy at Whole sale Automatic Transmission in AU today about the stand alone TC for the a750f. He makes it sound easy, very nice and very competent. He said he can create a stand alone controller for the a750. He can also create a device that can trick the ecu in to believing the old transmission is operating without issue. The only down side is the price. I am going to investigate a few other options before I lay down that much cash.

If you have 2,300.00 to 3,000.00 to spend on this he can build the TC in about 3 weeks time. If you want to install the 5 speed in an early 100 it can be done if you want it bad enough.

Edit:
I have decided to source compatible ecu and factory harness parts to try and make the a750 work for my project. I can source these parts domestically for a lot less then the cost of the aftermarket TC. If it does not work out I may revist this.

I bought a complete 2003 4runner and parted it out but kept the ecu an harness to run my 100 series 2uz and a750f project . I did not pursue a standalone harness for the a750f.
