Hi all.

So this will i guess be my build and general questions thread for my 4runner/surf. 1989 JDM spec with a 2L-T and 5 speed manual.

First thing on the agenda is aquiring as many of the FSM's as i can. I managed to score the 2L-T repair manual, but does anyone have a FSM for the 89 4runner? tried all the links on the FAQ but didnt win with any of them.

and because everyone loves pics...

Nice truck - looks like it needs a little work but should be a fun project! With the 2LT-E it's best to install a EGT gauge immediately. There are a bunch of other suggestions you should look into because the 2LTE as it comes from the factory is a bomb waiting to explode. Here's a good thread with a lot of good suggestions on how to make the 2LTE as bulletproof as it should be.

Ideas for improving the 2LTE

Totally misread that - but yes as you know most of the reliability/bulletproofing does apply to the 2LT as well.

Good luck on getting it going - look forward to seeing your progress!

No worries. Ja, thankfully no egr to deal with. She will be getting a 2.5" exhaust all the way and have long range plans to intercool but want to just get it to daily status first.
So short term plans are get the motor rebuilt, pistons, rings, liners, head, etc etc. 31 ATs all round and complete refurb of all the suspension
