How many vehicles look better in spotted primer than a Cruiser?
None!!

some trucks look good no matter what the paint job. HAHA:D:D

Looks good fellas. I am just down the road in Richmond and would love to make a wheeling trip some time soon. Unfortuntely, I am bone stock with 235's.

Keep in touch. I might head back out somewhere next Sunday to explore a little.

if you want we can get in touch next time it would be about an 1.5 hour trip for you to where we were today. it took me an hour and the other chris was about 1.25 hrs away.

Damn, that's some beautiful land. We're not too far from there up here in New York - if you guys decide you ever want to do a weekend of wheeling/camping there (you mentioned "property" - not sure if it's yours or a friend's, or whatever) I think you could probably get a good crew together.

sounds like a good summer time weekend. i know scott (highlandcruzer) wants to get more people together. i think it would be cool.

just to add tech, i did discover one annoying thing on the trip. once the vacuum leaks were sealed up for the most part and i did not have to correct for the lean conditions, which means my carbs best lean idle specs are within redlines guidlines finnaly, now i have hard starting problems. the truck runs great once it gets going smooth through all gears with good accel. i am running strong at 60mph at 2100rpm can still accelerate beyond that and she will hold that speed on most grades calced the gas mileage at 13 set by my trusty GPS, my speedo is of 10 at 60, but if i turn the engine off it does not want to start. will crank five or six times then fire slowly with some help from the gas pedal once i hear the engine turn over.

any thoughts. timing set at 7dbtdc, idle 650, no smog egr pipes still connected to system.

Thanks.

oh scott and chris great shots!!

Great shots and looks like a great time. I can't wait to get out.

Is your carb fan running?

i have a weber progressive and its begining to irritate me. so no carb fan. just chasing the tuning. i don't mind a stumble or rough idle but the starting issue is trouble some when we were wheelin i left it running the whole two and a half hours because i almost didnt get it started again the first time i shut it off

Thanks guys for the offers. I would like to do some trail rides soon... just give me a couple days notice. I am working full time and attending graduate school, so time is precious. Keep in touch, Chris.

Looks like you had some beautiful trails to ride! Outstanding pics!

pics didnt give all the glory we had just had a couple inches of rain so things were a tad slippery and wet virginia red clay makes for a slip slidin fun time.

chris the one in the silver crusier got almost totally sideways a couple times on the downhills. it was cool to watch him start to slide in the rear view and then pull it back in line

So a Weber progressive is supposed to be immune to vapor lock?

You know.......I didn't speak up Sunday, but vapor lock was my first thought too. :hhmm:

The only time my 2F has ever failed to start [knock-on-wood]was because of vapor lock from idling after a hard trail lug, on a hot day. [with a carb fan] The carbs get awfully warm sitting on top of the 2F exhaust......

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge installed? I understand the webers can be somewhat "finicky" about fuel pressure.[so I've heard]

Hey guys i am in tasmaina austraila love the views looks lke u have a lot of good wheeling ova there.who did the quarter cut on the blue rig looks good and would improve the departure angle on the rear witch i find is the biggest hold up with mine off the road cheers Darrren tassie

wouldnt think any carb is immune, but i thought vapor lock happens in the fuel line either before the pump or between the pump and the carb not in the carb itself. fuel because of het is vaporized in the line and is pushed as vapor into the carb strarving the system for fuel unitl the fuel pump catches up and refills the fuel bowl.

i guess i am steering away from that because if i run down the street 5 miles engine just comes up to temp like yesterday it was 62 degrees and rainy. the thermostat had just tripped stopped at the store came out and same problem. the engine at that time was not screaming hot.

i thinks its some setting on the carb thats f'd up.

i did the surgery myself. kind of gross when you look up close but shes not a beauty queen and it works. it will get covered with bedliner soon enough and wont know the diff. it does open up the back nicely though.

Nice lookin truck. We have very similar tastes, you and I. I would be down for going on a run sometime after I get my desmog all worked out. On your desmog did you get your dizzy recurved afterwards?
