I ordered a hub and axle from cruiserparts.net a few weeks ago. The parts were fine, and I have to say I like those guys generally, but they definitely do not have their sh!t together...and yes, the plastic stuff is saran wrap.

Very humorous but sad too.

No one should ship items like this, it's a complete gamble if it will arrive undamaged. If something happens and a claim needs to be done, Fedex/UPS/USPS will almost certainly deny it for improper packing. A box for the above is $3-4.

The only time I use shrink wrap it when an item goes freight on a pallet, which is standard for that transportation medium.
 
My coworker left his computer backpack, with computer and all his gear, in a rental car. The rental company found it and overnight shipped it to him via FedEx. That's pretty good service. But they just slapped a label on the backpack and shipped it. No box, no bag, just the backpack.

Don't see a hub and axle, I think you meant axe.
 
If it was something Fragile then yeah...At least they made an attempt to cover the splines.
