Some of you may have seen that I had an axle shaft that was grooved up real bad by the axle shaft seal.
Not sure how it go so bad but I wanted to cover all my bases to make sure it does not happen again or at least does not happen immediately after I put it all back together.
My CV joint was real clacky and after tearing it apart it was super hosed.
Bought some replacement CVs
There is a posibility that the bushing that is in the spindle may have sustained some damaged as well so I decided to just replace them in an attempt to make sure my axle isn't flopping all over the place taking out seals and wear surfaces.
Ordered up new bushings from Yotamasters and thought nothing of it until I removed one of the old ones and comapred it to the new ones.
It is possible that I received the wrong ones.
I checked out Yotamasters' page again to see and they have two different pics shown becasue the listing is for 6 differnt vehicles.
One looks like the proper bushing and the other looks like the dumb one so who knows.
Yotamaster Spindle Bushings
I've checked and rechecked my order and it says 80 series bushings.
It's possible that maybe the company that makes them did extensive research and found that they could impove upon the factory design by making them shorter but I have my doubts.
I think the more realistic answer here is that the company producing them is only concerned about profit.
I can almost hear the "C suite" now... "Oh if we make them shorter then we can get more bushings per bar of material and still charge the same price."
What possible resaon could they have to change the design on something that already works and has already been proven to last hundreds of thousands of miles .
I mean it is very likely that the ones that were in there were fine even with 280,000 miles on'em but I wanted to cover all the bases and get everything in tip top shape.
I don't feel like these bushings are the answer and I probably should have just bitten the bullet and bought the factory parts.
Anywho I thgought I would bring it up here to see if anyhone had any thoughts or experiences they would like to share to make me feel better.
I suppose I should at the very least contact Yotamasters and see what they have to tell me.
