Hi,
I brought my new '99 LC to my local mechanic (who also services my Tacoma and Highlander) to get the fluids changed last week.
Got the oil, brake and transmission fluids changed, and a valve cover gasket replaced.
I was informed that the brake master cylinder "has a problem" and should be replaced, but he didn't want to do the job because he said it was more difficult on this truck and he advised bringing it to Toyota. I'm going to get a second opinion on that from another shop.
I do have a freon leak, which will also need to be addressed.
According to the receipts the previous owner provided me, there was an alignment performed at 218,412 miles on 10/25/24.
I bought the truck on Mar 6 at 218,446 miles, so clearly not much driving over the last 18 months, so that leads me to my next issue.
I have not driven the truck all that much since purchasing it because I wanted the fluids changed. This morning I took it out to go to church and when accelerating, I lost power when the truck shifted to second gear. It would come back a few seconds later, but this went on for about 5 min. I took the truck back home, and my wife and kids took the Tacoma to church. I took the Land Cruiser for an approx. 45 min drive after that and could not replicate the problem. It was responsive and shifted smoothly thereafter. I was down to 1/4 of a tank, so I topped off the fuel. I have only put 91 octane in it since getting it, and I do not know what was in it when I received it.
The 45 min I drove it today is the longest it's been driven in probably 18 months.
Any ideas on what else I should look for on the acceleration issue other than what is in this thread: 100 Series Land Cruiser stalling/losing power
