When my A/C kicks in it howls like a coyote under a tire. The belt is fine and the air is cold. What shuld I be lookin at? I did not find any animals in the engine bay.

Try tightening the belt.

Could be the A/C has an issue and is building too much pressure and the belt can't handle it. Normal pressure is around 200 psi or so if it gets up past 300 a brand new belt can start squealing like a banshee or a coyote under your tire.:) Tensioner pulley bearing or A/C clutch pulley bearings going bad are other things to look at. If you have a bad bearing after running the engine for a minute the pulley should be smoking hot(too hot to touch) compared the the rest of the engine. Like said before tighten or replace the belt first and go from there.
