A better center console option

Can you tell me where you got your seat covers? I have been looking for a good fitting sheepskin cover like that.

I went with a bigger, better armrest. It's from a late 90s ES300. It's way more comfortable and nicer than the original arm pad. There is a version of this model armrest with rear-extending dual-cupholders but have yet to find it. This version will have to do for now. Leather and stitching is a perfect match. It fits and the (now hidden) button mechanism works just like original.
I believe I have a solution for dual-cupholders and will post when I get that installed.

No hijack intended -
They're from Costco.
I punched holes at the top for the headrest posts so the tops of the covers don't give it the "Bigfoot look". The matching leather headrests (I'll post pics sometime) are also from a ES300 so I could store and preserve the original LX headrests.

I pulled the trigger on the Concord arm rest/console...

I was hoping the color mismatch wouldn't be as obnoxious as it is. I'll need to recover it if I decide to keep it.

Shifted to L. More room to go for a future LS swap and trans mods. ;)

Decent cubby space. Padded so items stored here won't rattle around and become annoying.

With the OEM console cover removed it's close enough to level with the door arm rests that I hardly notice a difference.

That looks good. Can't imagine how nice your arm feels resting on that. Maybe you can find a Toyota in the junk yard that has the same fabric as your 80. Cut out enough to recover it.

It is NOT mounted yet, but I AM still using it. It's pretty stable just resting on top of the open console.

My overall impression so far is that I LOVE having the arm rest, but the cup holders this arm rest have leave a bit to be desired. I'm not sure why they're designed the way they are, but their odd design has my coffee mug tipping over all the time. Not spilling, but just not being held steady.

So my decision is: do I leave it, modify it, or swap it for another one? I'm still disappointed that the Volvo one got sent to the crusher. Snooze-ya-lose I guess...

I thought about doing exactly that! :D I looked around the yard I was in and not luck. Yet...

what year Concord did that come out of?

What you're seeing is basically a fancy center console lid. So, once permanantly mounted, it will lift up to allow access to the hand brake as well as the factory console cubby space.

Perhaps an imperfect solution, but I so rarely use the hand brake that it's a non issue for me.

I was considering some sort of rubber bolstering for the cupholders like the Kia example seen on the first page of this thread.

What model was that? I tried looking up center consoles for a 2001 Concord and it doesn't look anything like the one you have

Today I went bowling with the family and ordered a large Pepsi. The cup was huge, but the funky design of this cup holder held it tight. This is probably the biggest cup I've ever encountered. This makes me happy and more willing to deal with the wobbly coffee mug.

I just learned that there's a different style of '07 Volvo S60 center console floating around according to the internet (reliable as usual I'm sure. LOL). This style has 2 cup holders that pop out from the front end of the arm rest/console. So if this works out and any of you become interested, caution is the word...

I actually spotted a few of this style in the junkyard the other day in Volvo S70 series sedans. The retractable cup holder was stuck IN on 2 out of 3 of them so I passed.

Well that makes much more sense now, thanks for clarifying

Could you post a picture of how you mounted it?

The :princess: and I had a 99 Concord 7 or 8 years ago and I am thinking that there were rubber inserts that lined the cup holders, I think
