I recently bought a 98 4runner 4x4 w/rear e-lockers and need to change the front brakes (pads/rotors).

After looking at the tundra upgrade I decided to stick with stock and buy Duralast rotors and pads from Autozone.

I'm a bit confused as to the brake set up by the prev owner once i got started in changing the brakes.

Heres whats on the 4R:
1) S13WM calipers
2) 285/70/17 (5th gen rims)
3) looks like spacers
4) not sure what rotors
5) toytech 955650

See pictures below for reference.

My question is:
1) These are the stock calipers on the 16in rims correct? And only pads for the 3rd gen 4 runner would fit, right?

I read the WL =sequoia and WG= tundra.

2) what do I do with the spacer? Is that done to fit bigger rims and tires? Accommodate the lift? How can I take them off? Torque tool? First time encountering spacers.

3) how can I tell if he went with bigger rotors and not stock 4R ones?

4) can I put the 4R duralast pads/rotors no problem?

Thanks.

How about take off the spacer and check the clearance, if it doesn't rub on anything leave it out. If the factory rim size is 16" you should have the big rotor and the old pad on there now doesn't even contact all the way to the edge of the rotor, make sure the new pad will have more contact. Some pad manufacturers cheat by removing small amounts of material I would get OEM pads if you could wing it. Don't forget to torque the calipers and wheels.
