Thanks!

So it sounds like the TS-G1645R magnet fit in rear speaker door opening?...any tips or tricks on the mounting procedure?

Need to order two more 6 1/2" ;)

Yes, the magnet does fit right in. No real tricks to it. You won’t have to make any cuts. Just mark the holes with a sharpie and drill starter holes for your screws.

Also, make sure you align the speaker straight so it doesn’t appear tilted left or right when you finish your install. If you’re OCD like me, that’ll eat at you every time you see it haha.

Awesome!...thanks for all your help ;)

For those that have installed the Polks, the spec lists the top mount depth as 1 13/16th inches and that appears to fit. The grill does not contact the dash when the door is closed, correct? If not, what is the thickness/height of the grill?

Trying to define the max acceptable dimensions...

They do not touch. I would say there is about a .25" clearance. There also isn't much space between the speaker magbet and window rail. If I push on the mounted speaker I can feel it make contact. So its probably about the same in the back. I wouldn't go any deeper.

So it sounds like 1 13/16 inches is the max depth. Now, we just need to determine the max height. What is the thickness/height of the grill? In other words, how far does the grill extend from the surface of the door?

Just finished up the rear doors...went with 6 1/2" pioneers TS-G1645R....was super easy if you dont mind drilling new holes to mount speakers.

Like was told, all you have to do is leave door card on, just pop off rear speaker grill, unbolt speaker, rewire, drill four very small holes and mount em up ;)..you do have to use pioneer grills which I didnt mind at all.

With the fronts and rears done sound is much better than stock for sure...my stock LX sub woofer helps blend it nice with bass.

@Starlord just checking you have a 97 correct? No contact with window run behind?

Mine is a 94. There is no direct contact with the window track. If I push inn on the mounted speaker to try and make it touch, I can feel it barely make contact .

I didn't realize there was a difference with the 97. Sorry for any misinformation

OK good to know! Yes, the 97 model has about 1/2" less space behind the speaker. I guess one could add a spacer, but then it would make contact with the side of the dash...: /

so did we decide if the Polks work on 97's? specifically LX450's? front and rear doors?

I installed JVC CS-J620 speakers in front doors of my 1997 LC. I kept the factory speaker covers on door panel, and removed panel. Speakers even fit existing mount holes. I did have to put 1/4 spacers behind speaker on passenger door to clear window track enough. $25 on amazon for the set and they sound fantastic off the factory stereo. Anybody know what speakers work in rear door?? I want to put in 4 inch to maintain factory covers.
Cheers! John

gents,
i have a 97 lx and some speakers recommended by crutchfield. just pulled the rear covers detached the blown speakers. going to solder a female spade on the wires on each side. will probably use some grey weatherstrip caulking and see it the magnet clears the window (i assume this simply involves ‘rolling’ the window down to check?).
anyway, theee speakers have four holes for the screws and there are theee plastic inserts in the door.
can i simply drill three holes in the speakers and mount with three screws so i am not putting holes in the metal?
THANKS

Hey did you ever end up putting speakers in the back? And if you did which did you use?
