Hey all, new to the forum but i've been reading quite a few threads about tachometer issues and couldn't find any that specifically addressed my issue. No codes per a diagnostic and normal rpm scheduling confirmed by a buddy with an OBDII bluetooth setup. The issue is that the RPM doesn't register below 3000 but immediately jumps up and schedules normally over 3000 RPM. Randomly the other day, for the first time since I've been driving it, the RPM scheduled normally but hasn't since. I've tried to find some wiring diagrams to locate the sensor location and wiring harness to inspect it all but with no luck. Any recommendations? Video to follow. Thanks!

This should be the schematic for your truck, page 162-163 cover the tach. https://static1.squarespace.com/sta...442806549877/1996+Toyota+Land+Cruiser+EWD.pdf

Basically it gets the data from the ecm. If you are saying that you have used someone's scangauge or other obd2 tool to check the tach and it works fine through that, but does not work fine on the actual tach gauge, then it is likely your gauge as they would be using the same signal to my knowledge.
