Factory CD player on my 97 Anniversary FZJ (so maybe same stereo as a Lexus is why I mention that) I don't know exactly what interior parts are 80 vs Lexus) anyway it ejects CDs as soon as you slide one in. One CD player w/cassette. Stock. Immediate eject malfunction.

I never really cared but with a long drive ahead I wondered if anyone knew of the cause? Easily Fixable?

Very easy to fix. Buy a new radio.

I really like my Scion swap, but to each his own.

Cassettes on the way to Tenn it is. Praise the worthy cassette.

I have a stock radio out of a 96 you're welcome to if you want it. Not sure how well it works. Been sitting on my shelf for a few years, as I recall it was ok outside of some of the lights not working. Also I don't know if it's compatible with your fancy 97.

Thanks chalk. My main LCD screen lights have never worked anyway. I can try your unit sometime. That'd be great. I don't know if it will suffice for my fancy 97 either. LOL.

I didn't even know I was buying the "fancy" version until it was delivered. Even then I was unaware of the true implications of my actions. I was just buying what seemed to be a really good cruiser to own and wheel. The fact it's so dandy is a blessing and a curse. Believe me.

You have the single in dash CD player???

In the fancy Lexus, we have a 6 disc on the back side of the console and none in dash.

How long you out of town for this trip?

And, speaking of, how far are you from KC? If I recall, you mentioned near the Columbia area?

Hey rock. Yes sir I have the single disc. It Loads and then rejects in about .9 sec or less. Many diff discs. have been tested. None work.

I'm driving 600+ miles each way. Just me. So CDs would be great to have as an option. Bad thing is I'm 2.5 hours from KCI in the opposite direction. I am near Columbia.

No worries though for the trip. I really can survive on cassettes if space permits. Iggy. Jimi. Zep. SteelyDan. Cash. Marley. Bruce. Ac/dc. Got em all on cassette :)

Happy to try your spare when I get back. I'll get ahold of you. I like stock radios. better speakers are cool since you don't see them But stock dash for sure. Thanks !

So about two hours into the trip I decide some music would be good. Cassette. Had six great tapes ready to go.

None would play. Immediate rejection also. They play fine in my camry. Drag.
