Just found a 91 with 88,000 miles for $13,999. Talked to the guy and he said the price was firm. Hes up in Van Nuys next to TLC and told me they sell them all of the time for over $20k. Checked out TLC4x4.com and wow! They have a 89 with 217k for $18,000! I think prices are a lot higher here in so-cal than just about anywhere. Even KBB dealer retail in this area is way low compared to the market.

Do not use TLC in determining the "going price of Land Cruisers", even in that area. They are extremely high priced and are targeting a specific market. They do complete, high quality restorations and charge alot for it, it has no bearing on reality IMHO. So do some price shopping, minus TLC, to get a good idea of market price.

I think ya'll need to look around a tad more. Shees, it's not hard to find a good deal, but it helps if you look.

I guess I can wax my front windsheild to keep the pitting down.

You can try but it won't help much.

Well we are now thinking about just getting a 00-01 100. I like the looks of the 80 better but am a little worried about buying a car with 100k miles that I didnt have control of. I want something that is extremely reliable and will last me many years. There do seem to be some problems with the 100s... Am I crazy? Will a 80 with 100k really last a good long time?

It better because that's what I just bought!

It'll last for about damn ever if you get one that's well maintained and cared for as a whole. You're gonna have your share of repairs over time but that's what you get for paying less and buying a car that's almost a decade old. :)

But if you got the cash, get a newer one but keep in mind, without a warranty, you're rolling the dice on that too. Good luck!
