thanks for the help

Guys thank for the opinions. based on what some one said and I was thinking the same I have worked on many cars and truck over the years and jsut from looking at the 92 80 I can tell that I can fix most issues myself which makes owing cheaper and more enjoyable for me. I hooked up the 92 to my trailer and it towed it fine (not a race car) but it went up th hills at 50 plus. I also like the simple nature of the 91-92 with no leather and power everything.

Thanks

Like others said if you NEED more power for towing or whatever the 3fe is not a good choice, you will be getting passed on the freeway often.

Not necessarily. I towed a 1500 lb trailer from Ogden to Pleasant Grove (about 65 miles) and kept up with freeway traffic no problem. 75+ MPH on stock gears and 35's. I almost hit 90 at one point...

Of course, if you know how I drive, this would come as no surprise (nicholas) :D

Yeah for normal hwy. driving it is fine, I have towed jet skis and a u-haul all over with no problems. I only have 31"s on mine. Get on a long steep grade in Colorado or even some in Cali. and you will be going a cool 50mph in the slow lane, you will get there eventually. I have been passed by 93+ Lc's. I am in the same mind set with the easy cheap maintenance though.

I just did the valve cover gasket, pushrod cover gasket, and oil pan gasket in my 92. After 17 years you'll have that. What would changing a leaky oil pan gasket in a FZJ and that other engine have been like? I have 295k on the clock, no head gasket issue, never has died, amd runs better than the day I got it 9 years ago.

I do all my vehicle maintenance, and although its lacking the power of the 1FZ, a well maintained 3FE does the job, and is simple to :wrench: on. Looks good dressed in yellow too

93+ has easy cheap maintenance too. All EFI rigs have multiple sensors. OBDII is even easier to track down sensor issues, as the codes are pretty specific. O2 sensor/s will need to be replaced regardless of year, it is a consumable item. I do all my own maintenance on my FZJ, and I'm a self taught one or two banana guy. The FZJ is built to last 300k before rebuild.
There are more 93+ owners on the forum, and there are more of them out there in the real world, that is why there is a lot more content (both positive and negative) on here for the FZJ.
