Leon and I were talking on the BV run about how the last four club runs were all pretty long road day outings. Might be nice to have a close run for September if there is any interest. I would really like to do red cone this year, not exactly close, but closer.

We could do china wall, the gulches, or even Missouri gulch for really close trips. Frosty park, wreynolds/saran wrap, old chinaman's gulch? Maybe even change it up and do a Sunday run for those that can't do Saturdays? (Calling David Hayes...) cast your votes, what would YOU like to do?

Hopefully as we get closer some folks will get interested. I think most everyone is busy with Labor Day plans right now. We try to not schedule trips on holiday weekends for that reason, everyone is busy with family plans. We'll figure something out.

I still second the idea of red cone. I know we were thinking closer but that would be a really neat run I'd definitely try to make.

Double cardan driveshaft - now it's smooth as butter. No idea why it took a year after the lift for the vibration to start, or why it was worsening with time. Mystery or not, I'm just glad to be able to drive the truck with a front driveshaft installed again.

Oh, and crud, I told my wife I wanted to go off roading on 9/21 and she reminded me the boys have a scout camp that weekend. :whoops:

Is Red Cone doable in a day?

Are we definitely doing something on 9/21? I have a friend with a Taco who would like to go. I should tell him something pretty soon.

Red cone was do-able in a day if you could come down Webster pass after the downhill, one way section of red cone. In recent years there has been a wash out in the shelf road that kept all but the very brave from doing that. I think it would still be a pretty long day though.

I'll definitely be going on the 21st, no matter where we decide to go.

I'm headed up that way today...hiking the quad of 14ners over the next couple of days. I'd check into the top of Bross...I know the hiking trail has been closed, but don't know about the road up...they are trying to mine the area again from what I've been told.

I knew you'd say that, and I... Have an answer prepared.

I had high expectations of that trail and it didn't quite live up to them, but maybe since now my expectations are low, it'll be amazing! Haha. Maybe I just need another look at that trail :)
